Sign stealing?....

I am hearing from somebody with a connection to one of our baseball players that Arkansas was stealing our pitching signs this past weekend and they were even bragging about it. I have no idea if true or not but was curious if anyone else had heard this? I guess now I'm wondering who currently calls our pitches? Is it done from the dugout by Foxhall or by our catcher? Obviously if its being relayed from the dugout then that would lend itself more to someone possibly getting a heads up on what signals were going out to our pitchers.

Yea, if true. Getting it second hand so that is why I was curious if anyone else was hearing the same?

I believe we use the 3 number index card system. The only way to mitigate that is to use random number generators for every new inning, every game. That way "2-3-2" isn't always "fastball away"

Outside of that it's up to the catcher to hide the calls, or if they had an indicator word for when we would set up inside/away to fire one at their earhole.

Yep, it's on us, not them. To me, it's kind of like a professor giving the same exam over and over - does he expect it not to make its way around? It's up to us to prevent signs being stolen (unless, of course, there's something nefarious going on, like electronic eavesdropping).

But end of day they will guess right on several pitches in an at bat. Put the ball in the middle of the zone top 3 teams wear that shit out and they did.

I remember thinking they are prob changing indicators with a guy on second. Smn was up. Next two guys looked naked at the plate. I thought it was weird.

Difference in the games. They didn?t miss spots we did pitching. When we missed they pummeled us

Sims walked a couple of guys. Tin foil hat on but they could have been chase pitches that the other team knew to lay off on.

If it is true we need to change up our signs a little bit and if we play Arkansas in the SEC Tournament or postseason whatever our sign for fastball away needs to be changed to fastball up and in. A couple of batters in should get the point across.

Moore hit for the cycle last night against Central Arkansas. They are just some well coached hitters that typically don't let down the middle fastballs get by.

I noticed that also. Forsythe was the only middle infielder that came to the mound. Figured he caught them picking up signs from the 2nd base runner.
There was some good 2 out , runners on base, hitting going on each day.

Stealing signs is as much a part of baseball as the baseball itself. Teams usually have some players in the dugout doing this every game.

But it?s not difficult to pick up on signs and pitch sequences when you have book pitchers. We have book pitchers that throw certain pitches in certain situations. Good hitters know this and pick up on this. I can watch first 3-4 hitters of a game and know whether or not a guy is a book pitcher or not. Hitters sit pitches based on situation and mash them, until the pitcher changes it up and makes them start thinking.

Out of all of this nobody has really responded to the question about who calls our pitches? Does it originate from our catcher or from the dugout? Anyone know?
