Asses. They don?t know the ball/strike count and don?t know how many outs there are. Tanner just about killed Sims throwing the ball down to second just now with three outs. Sims is one of the few that is playing worth a shit and he is going to get taken out by a teammate?s bone headed 17 up.

I?m not liking this team very much right now.

Having heard Gautreau talk before it seems to me like his philosophy is to let guys fall on their face and then build them back up.

That may be good in the minors. I don't think I like it as much in college.

I like Rowdey's power, but I also like it when our leadoff hitter knows and understands the importance of taking a walk (especially when it adds to the pressure the opposing pitcher feels) instead of jacking a long flyout to the OF.

Sure wish / hope Gautreau's philosophy of "falling on their face" is soon rectified with Rowdey. That's why I think Dubrule may be better for the leadoff spot for us.

As far as approach at the plate, this seems to be a pattern with us. We will swing early and often early in the season and then start working counts a little more as we get into the season. I’m not fussing about that so much as I’m noticing our guys not being aware of the situation that they are in. Players need to know the counts they are in. We look sloppy right now in several facets of the game and at this level, there is no margin for error. I’m glad we are early in the season and there is time to get things ironed out but if we don’t clean things up, it is going to be a long season.
