We need our young position players to mature and improve throughout the season. We played a little sloppy at times and that needs to improve.

We need McCowan to build on what he did this weekend. He looked better at the plate than I expected.

We need our more inexperienced pitchers to progress, which I think they will with time and innings.

We have a lot of room for improvement and if we do, we can be very good.

OM and Arkansas are both very good. Glad we get them both at The Dude.

Texas is overrated and can?t hit. I think Texas Tech is better than they played this weekend but still have kinks to work out. TCU is a good team with excellent pitching, not great at the plate.

The fact that the SEC will go at worst 7-2 with a legit chance of 8-1 in this tournament is a big statement made.

Meet Arkansas's 1b dad today while at the game. Super nice guy. Played at southern miss. Think he said he was a coach for a few years and then a scout (may still be?). Then the former hc for Arkansas's catcher came up. Told the story of how he got recruited. Kid had 4-5offers including us. Coach asked the kid if he was happy with the offers he had, opitz said he just wanted to play in the sec and asked if he should look anywhere else. The coach looked around the sec and seriously was sold on Arkansas because of their practice facilities... He called van horn for a month constantly till he said this is my last call, or you will regret playing against this kid for the next few years. Van horn called back and give him a private look. Offered the next day.
Evidently opitz two older brothers were shortstops who made it to the show. Their dad said opitz needed to change to catcher to have the best chznc. HS coach said he's 145.. Sure he shouldn't follow the same path as a ss?
