OT: Transmission Shop
Anyone in the Starkville area have a recommendation for a transmission shop? My daughter's SUV decided 140,000 miles was too much. Dealer wants ton for replacement and I want a second opinion before I give up and buy something else. Being 10 hours away makes it hard to vet mechanics.
"After dealing with Ole Miss for over a year," he said, "I've learned to expect their leadership to do and say things that the leadership at other Division I schools would never consider doing and to justify their actions by reminding themselves that "We're Ole Miss.""

my son-in-law just had a transmission rebuilt within the last 2 weeks at performance automotive in starkville. was referred to them by a co-worker that was a ford master tech mechanic. Son-in-law is pleased so far. Price was ~$1900.
My daughter has graduated now, but I had the same issues when she was a student. I'm just in North Miss so I just went down for a visit and carried tools with me to do a couple repairs.
Transmission rebuild is way cheaper than a new car.

What's the make and model of the vehicle?

Anyone BUT the dealer. They call them stealerships for a reason. I've had 2 transmissions rebuilt in Hattiesburg for less than half of what the dealership wanted for replacement. I kept both vehicles for several more years before selling without issues.

Hmm. Don't know much about that particular set up, but are you confident it is actually the transmission and not a shift sensor? Have had this happen on a couple of GM SUVs, both were diagnosed as needing a new transmission...

No idea - that's why I want a second opinion

Pete's Transmission on Louisville Street. I've known and used him for years and he's never let me down.
