You are just seeing it more this year because they don't have to sit a year if they do transfer.

Writing on the wall...I feel for him bc he is very talented but he was raw and was not held very accountable at SMHS tbh. Seems like a great kid though

This is the part that is so bothersome to me with the portal. I do think some of the younger guys may actually be good in a year or two to be contributors and they leave early in the process.
I know a player can see things that I don't but I also know guys grow and get better from year to year. The OLine is an area that I think players show the most improvement in year three. They are getting bigger and stronger and will have worked on technique and scheme enough to finally let it click. I was hoping this guy would be one of those.
The one telling thing is they were moving him to Defense.

That may be true, but if you are going over there just to be behind several guys because they had given up on you on the OLine, then it makes sense.
