    New Guys Enrolled

    https://hailstate.com/news/2021/1/11...es-monday.aspx

OL Gabe Cavazos Jr. (Lake Cormorant, Miss./Lake Cormorant)
DL Randy Charlton (Goulds, Fla./Miami Southridge (UCF))
QB Daniel Greek (Argyle, Texas/Liberty Christian)
OL Nick Jones (Byhalia, Miss./Byhalia (East Mississippi C.C.))
LB DeShawn Page (Knoxville, Tenn./Fulton (East Mississippi C.C.))
OL Albert Reese IV (Edmonton, Alberta/Clearwater [Fla.] Academy International)

I like seeing 3 OL and a couple of JUCOs in early. Headstarts are big for those groups
"After dealing with Ole Miss for over a year," he said, "I've learned to expect their leadership to do and say things that the leadership at other Division I schools would never consider doing and to justify their actions by reminding themselves that "We're Ole Miss.""

Watch Greek come in this Spring and beat out everybody. Wouldn?t that be something? Gonna be a fun Spring on the Leach Beach.

I agree. I wish all of our guys were early enrollees but I'm not sure if that's allowed. Definitely want the JUCO guys and transfers in ASAP.

I think Cavazos will take some time to develop, but we need Nic and Reese to be early impact guys. Reese is a large man at 6' 7" 295. Getting him in the weight room early is going to be crucial for him to get up to speed. He's very underrated. He's got solid offers and I think cracks the two deep next year.

Todd if they graduate early why would they not, it doesn't break any NCAA rules.

Historically we have had to reach on so many OL that had the frame but not the size (or had the size but it was too much fat and not enough muscle) it would be really helpful if they get to campus in the spring. Lots of guys were basically RS sophomores before they had their body in SEC shape, if they ever got there. Getting them the spring of their senior year of high school should give them a jump start on nutrition and weightlifting and conditioning so we can find out what we have sooner rather than later and either get them on the field contributing earlier or moving out to make room earlier.

I really wish Knox was here for spring ball. We need him to step in and be a player early and as we saw this year it takes a minute for guys to grasp the offense. If he could get that learning curve out of the way in the Spring instead of the season that would be better. Same thing with our quarterback. If Robertson was here we would have a legit qb competition this fall but it's going to be hard to overtake Will with him getting here so late. Will isn't going to turn it over and give Robertson a chance this year like Will was given from Costello.

Sawyer Robertson wants to play baseball. Also, if I would have had this opportunity in high school, I would have stayed for my whole senior year. You only get to be in high school once, and for some they cant get out quick enough, but for others its a great experience.

I don’t begrudge Robertson for finishing out his career, but I believe when he’s sitting on the bench next fall instead of starting he is going to wish he didn’t make that decision. I may be wrong and he may not be good enough as a true freshman to take over anyway but football is his future.

I think the competition will be between Rogers and Abraham. I agree that I don't think Sawyer will really be all that in the mix this fall.

The key to Leach?s system, besides having an OL that can block 3 people and WRs that can find open space is having a QB that can make all the throws...I haven?t seen Greeks film, but Robertson has the arm talent...

Robertson is going to surprise a lot of people. My dad still lives in Lubbock and says he's the real deal.
