Best 2 guards in the SEC

It would be wise for MSU to have DJ and Molinar shoot 80% of our shots. They are our offense, quit trying to get others involved. Every time down the court one of the two needs to shoot. It ain?t rocket surgery.

They are a top tandem in the SEC, but we still need to get others involved, especially Tolu. Jalen Johnson also needs to hit some shots to take the pressure of those two. And if Johnson can get going we could be extremely dangerous.

Right they need about 20% of our shots. Let Tolu offensive rebound. We won the second half because Molinar and DJ were doing the shooting.

DJ is starting to show up on more and more Mock Drafts. NBADraft.net has him as a late first rounder in the 2022 draft. (https://www.nbadraft.net/nba-mock-dr...year-mock=2022) If he cleans up his dribble a little bit then I think he will be a definite first rounder. I am slightly concerned we lose him after this year because he is already an old RS Sophomore at 21.4 years of age and the NBA tends to favor the young. Also, Molinar has to be popping up on more and more NBA radars now that he is a proven shooter. But yes, they are very good and this is an ok problem to have if they play well the rest of the season.

Fingers crossed we get another year of them together. I expect d. Smith to keep getting better and better too. Those 3 could be a major handful by the end of the season

I never thought we'd see another great tandem like Bowers and Zimmerman but boy I think we found it. These two are just dominating. They need most of shots but we have to have an inside game and Johnson and others contribute. Teams can't run junk Ds at two players to stop us and they can't which is why we look so good.

The balance on this team at all positions and our deep bench are hidden reasons we look so good. Ado is a force on D end too which is going under the radar. Howland finding the magic as he rebuilds our program. If it were not for Covid the Hump would be taking another step this year.

The thing that made those teams so special was that not only did you have two great guards, but you had beast inside in Mario(Tolu) and you had guys in Winsome Frazier and Ontario Harper who were tough as nails and could knock down a shot when we needed it. We need Jalen Johnson to be a hybrid of those two guys. Bench wise we're much deeper than any other state team I can remember. We are legit 8-9 deep. We need Post and Davis to continue to develop for us to have a legit second line.

We still need Tolu to continue scoring in the paint, which he has been, and Jalen Johnson hitting open threes... but yes the majority of our shots should come from DJ and Molinar.

Those two guys both have NBA potential and both are great team players with no ego's. If we can somehow get on a roll and make a run of some sort, don't be surprised to start hearing more NBA chatter, they are that good and still haven't peaked yet.

20/20 hindsight but Ben probably regrets redshirting DJ in the year we lost to Liberty in the NCAA. We definitely could have used him with the players we had out. There is a 0% chance DJ is here for his Senior year and probably a 50% chance he is here for his Junior Year. That being said, Ben has a done a very good job of developing DJ and perhaps throwing him on the big stage too early might have hurt DJ's confidence.

He was RS because he hurt his foot like a week before the season started. DJ would've gotten minutes as a freshman had that not happened.

Say what you want about Ben (justifiable or not), he has 3 guys on NBA rosters right now. Q is with the Spurs (out with a hurt knee), Woodard with the Kings and Perry with the Nets. DJ and Molinar look like they can both make it as well. We just to incorporate that to wins. I do like this group we have right now though.

And BH comparing Molinar to Westbrook sounds pretty promising as well. We have had the talent over the last few years to make noise. We just never gelled as a group, for whatever reason. It is still early, but this group appears to be coming together differently than the teams over the last 3-5 years. Time will tell. Need to back up the Mizzou game today.
