    Defense

For a group that was so uncertain coming into the season, our Defense finished well in the SEC
    #6 in Scoring D at 28.3 ppg
#4 in Rushing at 125.3 ypg
#7 in Passing at 255 ypg (most surprising)
    #4 in Total D at 380.3 ypg

Considering the youth and lack of depth, Arnett is damn impressive.
"After dealing with Ole Miss for over a year," he said, "I've learned to expect their leadership to do and say things that the leadership at other Division I schools would never consider doing and to justify their actions by reminding themselves that "We're Ole Miss.""

That side of the ball is going to be just as fun to watch in the upcoming years.

Yep, and think about how much better we were at the beginning of the year with more of a full roster. Arnett is a beast. Hope we can hang onto him for a while.

For context, think about all we lost during the year to opt outs and Covid too. I'm not sure a team was hit harder than us from that perspective. And yesterday we had no Thompson or Spencer. Tough blow.

But to finish top half in most major defensive categories given all of that I think speaks volumes about that side of the ball and what the staff did.

If Leach can half a defense top half of the league and have an offense top 1/3 we will be very very dangerous.

Who had a bet going that we wouldn't be below 30 in scoring D? 34?

Everyone knows you round 28 up to 30, so he's still not wrong.**

Yep, he was acting like the usual know-it-all & I called him out and he got into a back and forth with me saying we’d finish around dead last in the league and I told him we’d finish inside the top 10 and push for middle of the league. Of course, I was just a sunshine pumper and he was correct.....except he wasn’t lol. He’s a tool.

We exceeded expectations defensively without a doubt. Always good when that happens.

Come on buddy, you can do it. Just type "I was wrong" slowly. You're almost there.

We'll be just as good, if not better, next year.

    DE- Crumedy....Odom....Banks
    DT- Pickering....Young....Cooley
    DE- Charlton (UCF Transfer)/Jordan Davis....Harris
    Edge- Wheat....Russell....Lewis

    MLB- Watson....Page
    OLB- Brule....Groce/Page

    CB- Emerson....Furdge
    CB- Forbes....Perkins
    FS- Duncan....Morgan/Purvis
    SS- Preston/Craft....Richardson
    Nickel- Peters....Dean

Salty. My only complaint would be that we need a grad transfer at one of the safety positions. Duncan and Preston are good run-stop safeties, but teams will try to throw at them again next year. Johnathan Alexander from K-State is an option, but we've cooled on him a bit.
