How many freshmens did we start?

Been a fan of MSU since 11/1/80, this is by far the youngest bunch I've seen

More than anyone else in Division 1. We are the youngest team in college football.

Aww hell ... C34 would've easily won 8 of 9 this year and taken Bama down to the wire. Might've even won all 9 and be playing Mullen in SEC Title game. If only his ex hadn't laid down the law and kept him from coaching College Football.

ETA: But yet Malzahn has lots of good reasons to have mediocre or suck ass teams. One of those (per C34) is usually youth and inexperience.

Matt last night said we played 14 Freshman. Don't know how many started. Also said there was only 47 scholarship players dressed out. Ole Miss should be embarrassed for not winning by 40. The future is bright no matter what the Leach haters says it not.

Rosebowl said that it will be 3 years before we get close to having 85 true scholarship athletes....Leach will be outgunned for a while.

4 on offense, if you count Cross.

1 on defense. However, defense had a number of Sophomores start too.

Yea ... I knew they had a bunch too but at least their skill players have 1 year or more of experience. They are all also more highly rated than our skill players. Not a great excuse tho.

Don't get me wrong, I wasn't happy with the way we played or faded down the stretch either. But long term I think Leach will probably be at least as good at Mullen which was 4th in West every year.

Right now, I like our backs alright but they aren't very powerful or elusive either. Need to be at least one of those. Hope they can develop one of those skills maybe. Outside of Wally, don't really have any upper tier WRs either.

Oline is getting better in protection, but still ain't great run blocking although 2 or 3 of the runs should've either been audibled out of or never audibled into, cause they were bringing their LBs on those. Not sure which happened there. Cole Smith was killing me some tho last night dammit.

Will and WRs on same page better now and WRs are finding holes in the zone (even the 8 man). Oline giving Will more time too.

The main adjustment (if you will) Leach will need to make long term IMO is recruiting a QB at least as mobile as Will and who can throw on run like he can. Will ran for a 1st down or 2 last night. He could do that more if he wanted to and probably will next year. Can't have a pure pocket passer like KJ here tho or it will severely limit the offense.

    Need more upper-tier WRs too.

Long term I believe Leach will be at least as good as Mullen with more WTF wins and WTF losses too. He's gotta get some playas in here tho.

I would think the free year should help out a lot on that. All of our seniors can come back next year. All of our juniors can come back for 2 more years.
