Coach Mark Hudspeth
What's the story with him? Why did he step down from Austin Peay? Also, what is the story with him that some of our "insiders" say he will never be the coach of State? All the crap surrounding our football program just made me think about him and wonder what the story really is with Hud.
And no, I'm not suggesting him as our next coach.

Didn’t he cheat on his wife? Others can confirm or refute.

I don't know. Maybe so, but that would mean absolutely nothing as far as not ever getting a chance to be our HC someday.

Was it similar to what got Petrino?

Cheating on your wife is one thing, cheating on her with a student at the school where you are head football coach is another

I gotcha. So is this what happened at Austin Peay? If so, did the same happen while he was an assistant here or something?

So he’s on his third marriage with a former student?

I was referring to North Alabama. I'm not commenting about his exploits at Austin Peay

To paraphrase: "The thing about those college girls, we get older, but they all stay the same age."

At the end of the day you have some cigar boys that don’t like him so we are going to cut off our nose to spite our face. Interestingly, our administration and big money would rather lose on their principles than win and eat a little crow. That seems to be mirrored in our two most recent football coach hires.

He had 4 9 win seasons at ULL on field (lost to NCAA sanctions) - then three losing seasons and was fired. But, in the end he's still been fired from 2 jobs and gotten a heavy probation.
"After dealing with Ole Miss for over a year," he said, "I've learned to expect their leadership to do and say things that the leadership at other Division I schools would never consider doing and to justify their actions by reminding themselves that "We're Ole Miss.""

Yeah, he's very tarnished for sure, but let's not just lie about it. He won a ton at ULL. Also just took Austin Peay to their best season. Again, this thread was not meant to be a "let's hire Hud" thread, although it always turns into that. I was just sincerely interested in finding out what the deal is with him.
Seems like he's a great coach that can't handle his personal business.

But will he run the ball and care about winning more than a system?

That is called being principled and is a positive character trait.
