Our next HC contract
Needs to have a clause where we can terminate if we have the worst offense in the league.
I hate you more today than ever Dan Mullen.

Mullen is a great coach, and it's becoming more obvious daily.

And he had limited success here. It's more than just coaching here. Mullen hid a lot of our other issues.

MSU gave Mullen the chance to learn. Mullen was not polished his entire time at MSU. When he learned and was engaged, he was good. When he unplugged, he sucked. He is engaged at Florida and had 9 years to learn at MSU.
Mullen is good coach but Jackie showed you can win at MSU. Mullen even said so himself when he came.

What other issues?

250K a year and a used cowbell.
The next guy will suffer for the fact that Leach took us to the cleaners.

This is very true.

Issues that Dan brought upon himself by bad recruiting. And we're suffering from that today.

Thing is Mullen could have been the GOAT at MSU and even had a statue of him but his arrogance got the best of him.
I'm still saying he could flame out at UF. His antics the last month have been pathetic from TAMU to the brawl to dark vader.

There should be some way to hire a coach based on performance. Give him a base salary - remove a certain amount for losses, add for wins. Golfers and tennis players don't get paid unless they win (other than money from sponsors, and they have to be fairly well known to get that). Why not coaches? Should yesterday's team performance warrant $500K for the head coach?

You are taking a huge risk when you hire a 60 year old and guarantee him 5 million per year. Especially one who doesn't like to recruit.

Perhaps you are putting too much emphasis on the coach?s contract rather than the AD?s. If you hit a homerun for an experienced AD, a lot of things like good coaching hires, donations, contracts, etc. seem to happen also...see pre Byrne and post Stricklin for contrast.

Will never happen.

and could have been the greatest if he didn’t choke against Bama and om, run off Def Coordinators and leave MSU out to dry when job hunting. At times what he did with 3 star talent was phenomenal and I’ll never forget how he turned the teams intensity around his very first year. I truly believe he would have gotten to playoffs if he had stayed one more year.

Most have incentives for things like championships and bowls and things like that. I've never heard of a coach basically having money lost for losing or a bad team performance anywhere. That's kind of insane if you think about it. "Hey! You won! But guess what- we didn't think it was a good enough performance. That will be 500k."

I've never heard of it either, but I bet they would work a lot harder if it was on the table.

Tony Romo
Tony Romo should be the next coach. He is almost 100 percent with his play call predictions.

It helps that our fans actually allowed him time to build his program and didn't completely flip out after losing to LSU with his poor play calling at the end, lost to Houston because he didn't challenge a play call that almost certainly would have been reversed on our favor or score 15 against a 2-10 Vanderbilt team.
