Do we have all the personnel to run the Air Raid Offense?

Sly Croom took alot of shit for trying to force feed the WCO in his first year instead of using the talent he had.

Is this not something just like it?

Possibly, but with Leach you get his system and nothing else. Just the way he is.

Also, I don't blame him for not running more when 3 down linemen are stuffing runs against our 5 'great' olinemen.

Huge difference. Croom did that for years. This is 3 damn games. He's got his players coming in next year. He's got to implement his scheme. Makes no sense to run something other than his scheme.

We need different OL. Ones more agile and able to pass block for 50+ passes every game.

Our current OL, the majority of them aren't built for that or just haven't ever done it.

That's one thing I think you will see a difference in is us trying to get OL that have blocked in an Air Raid system.

By the way, our offense (yards per) is top 25. Just tells you how bad the turnovers have been.

Let's see, 5th year senior QB who some were projecting as a later round NFL pick. NFL caliber RB who can catch it out of the backfield. Pretty veteran O-line in spots plus a 5 Star LT who redshirted last year. 3 4 star Wide Receivers + guys with experience like Osirius and Williams.

We aren't loaded on offense I guess, but definitely have the personnel to perform better than these last 2 weeks.

Coach34 said it best,we can analyze this every which way. But it doesn't matter. If you can't run the ball vs a prevent defense then you can forget it. That's on Leach and the Oline, PERIOD.

Yep. 25th in total offense and 12th in total defense. And we're 1-2. Turnovers man, those damn turnovers.....

Turnovers have absolutely prevented us from being 3-0 or at worst 2-1. Part of the game though and that has to be eliminated. With the way our defense has been playing just don't turn the ball over and we'll be ok.

The five yard pass right over the center in the middle. Either to a wr who sits down right there or a back. It has not been covered all year. Just do it 14 straight times and you score. It's not a complicated issue. Don't do anything else until they stop it.

Well we have known that we only have a few WRs that can even catch a cold, so that will not work in an air raid offense for starters. This has been an issue for many years and I cannot explain it. It has been happening to every coach we have had. I do not think it is the offense.

HUGE difference between Leach and Croom:

    1. Leach has a long history of success. Croom didn't. Croom went from NFL OC right back to NFL RB coach.

    2. Leach has a history of having success with players that aren't that talented. His offense is also considered very simple. Croom's was probably 5 times more complicated.

    3. Croom made zero effort to get a QB that fit the WCO. I mean- can you really see Chris Relf in a timed passing game system? Costello has been a headcase and a bust but at least Leach went out and has found QB's that fit his system- Rogers, Robertson and Greek.

    4. Leach isn't telling people that it's going to take seven years to install his offense. Leach also scored more points in his first game than Croom EVER did in five years at MSU. You can look that up- it's true.

Speaking about the OL..... Seems the narrative this week from OOB Blake and Bulldog fans.... is that the OL sucks.

We have given up 8 sacks in 3 games. Ranks around 51 nationally. Not good. However it could be worse since we pass 60-70 plays a game.

Watching film of the Arkansas game, Arkansas concentrated their pass rush inside. Rarely did the DTs line up really wide or loop outside our OT. I assume this was done to protect against the draw play. Regardless, Costello had 3 seconds or more to throw most plays.
Watching film of UK. We had to double team their NG. He is a beast. Their DTs played wide. Also, UKs #31 played really wide and was able to rush around the OT even when we tried to double him. With that said, Costello had 3 seconds to throw most plays.
The first pick 6. The DT read the play perfectly and looped wide and into the passing lane. The ball was out of Costello's hand in 1 second. The play was read well from the start. Terrible decision by Costello to even attempt the pass.
Int to end the half, Costello had held the ball 3 seconds and still wasn't being wrapped up. Again, good protection just an off target pass.
Another INT on our sideline, Costello had 3 seconds or more to throw. UK was credited with a hurry but Costello stepped up and into the NG. The NG wasn't much if any past the LOS.
THe 2nd pick 6 was from pass rush pressure. However the play before, our WR was hit in the hands for a sure first down....drop. We should have not been in 3rd and long on the goal line.
The Rogers pick at the endzone was another bad decision. He was outside the pocket and threw to a well covered guy. He had plenty of room to tuck and run for a 1st down.

Costello has time to throw with this offense. All you need is 2-3 seconds. He is getting that. Also, there isn't a team in college or pro that is going to throw 70 times a game and not give up a sack or hurry from time to time. Also, you just aren't going to get 4 seconds or more unless you have BAMA's OL playing Vandy.

Yes! TURNOVERS is the overwhelming problem with our team right now. We clean that up, we will be a completely different team!

The o-line probably isn't as bad as some make it seem, but also not good either.

It's as simple as this, and I believe this was something Hadad said on his podcast that is pretty common sense. You can't commit a bunch of turnovers and have bad o-line play and expect to be any good. You can sometimes survive one or the other, but you can't deal with both. Just not going to be any good in that scenario.

Yeah, we have them, but they don't have a thorough understanding and that's a huge problem.
