    Where are the football insiders?

I understand there are no highlights from yesterdays "non practice day" but I haven't really seen the typical insider info for the practices that have happened? Someone please give us some football news.

The general take I've seen is that KJ is as advertised, RB is deeper than we thought, WRs look good despite history with Tulu looking like a looking like a future draft pick, and the OL has 4 top 10 players at their position according to draft experts

On D, LBs and Safeties are good, DL is thin but serviceable, CBs are going to be the teams biggest weakpoint

    We're gonna have some shootouts.
    WHY IS EVERYONE YELLING?!?

QBs- KJ is as good as we hoped, Will Rodgers is pushing for the 2 spot.

RBs- Kylin's route running has surprised the staff. Kareem Walker has really accepted his role as a situational back and has become one of the leaders in the RB room along with Kylin. Marks is special.

WR- They're getting there. Payton is going to be VERY good and it will piss you off how underutilized he was under the previous staff. Shavers is getting better every day. Tulu will play this year and is probably the most dynamic person at that position.

Fmr. TE now tighter WR- Cumbest and Spivey will play coaches are very high on them. They want to use them in the slot for mismatches.

OL- Probably going to be, in no particular order, Cole Smith, Greg Eiland, Dareun Parker, Dolla Bill or Lashley, and Charles Cross

DL- Pickering and Crumedy in the middle and Kobe Jones and Spencer on the outside. After that, it gets dicey.

LB- Errol is the returner and will be the leader. We need Jordan Davis, Nate Watson, Tyrus Wheat, and Aaron Brule to step up and be ready

CB- Martin Emerson and the rest. It'll be baptism by fire at the other spot.

S- Murphy and Peters, depth will be an ISSUE

This pissed me off watching games last year. it was obvious Payton was a better WR than Guidry. Better routes, better hands.

Rosie was on OOB this morning. I caught him talking about the defense. He said it will be nowhere near 2018 but it won't be as bad as 2016. He said people need to expect a rather average defense this year.

Like the Young Ball Coach said, we will have more DBs soon. They are listed as WR right now till he can learn who can and who can't catch.

Who are some dark horses to be surprise contributors?

Do Allan Love and Malik Sanders look like potential depth contributors at DT and CB respectively?

They may contribute but I'm not sure that's a good thing for us.

I think this OL has a chance to be awesome. Most athletic group we may have ever had on one team

If OL is the heartbeat of a football team, then I think we’ve got a chance to be pretty damn good.

If the OL allows offense be consistently score, then that’s going to open up Arnett to take chances on defense & create big plays

Another thing, this coaching staff seems to be the most direct, truthful, & honest to the media than any we’ve had before.

That’s led to less rumors because they just say it in press conferences.

With us having a scrimmage tomorrow, I’m guess you’ll hear more

Sounds like Malik Sanders could be 2nd at one of the corner spots, but Love is third at DT at best behind Pickering and Crumedy, and I would imagine Cooley passes him at some point, certainly by next year.

    And Cameron Young.

We have some young guys with some talent but they're going to have to develop. They'll take their lumps this year. But by 2022-2023 they'll be seniors and probably be pretty good.

    From someone at practice:

The coaching and intensity is there- much better than the last 2 years. Love the energy. Our new DC can coach and will be a good one when he gets some talent. That being said, we have lots of drops and just dont look very good at all. This defense is putrid and the secondary is awful. We wont be able to stop a fat woman on a scooter in a grocery store defensively. Zero depth in areas that arent very good in the first place. No way this team wins 5 games.

I'll be interested to hear an update in a few weeks after guys get more comfortable

This is a free year in which I suspect we'll improve as the season progresses. Without any Spring practice, it stands to reason that things wouldn't be pretty this early in camp.

Your practice report, offensively at least, is pretty much the opposite of what our offensive genius head coach has been saying. Think I?ll take his word for it.

    There's a big difference here.

    1. What C34 is saying is from someone who doesn't have a comparison of what normal Leach teams look like in practice or what 1st year Leach teams look like in practice.

    2. Leach can easily compare what we currently look like to what TT & Wazzou looked like at this time of year in his first year at those schools.

The difference in perspective is likely important here.

We'll win more than your school will
"We will have no problem in handling Kentucky."-Turfdawg67. MSU suffered a 27-17 defeat in 2022 with 225 yards in total offense.
