Losing the football season would obviously suck, and for us fans least of all....players, coaches, athletic departments, towns and local businesses, etc. are all going to be hit hard by this, and sadly, there's no telling how bad it will be.

But...to blame sports being cancelled on the likes of Dan Wolken, Pat Forte, Ross Delinger, etc. is just insane. Of all the people to blame.....literally of all the people that ****ing deserve blame.... y'all are blaming the ****ing media....like they wield that type of power? Guess what: they don't. Conference admins aren't making these decisions because of twitter comments and Dan Wolken articles. FFS, guys.

They're not the reason why it's getting cancelled. But they're assholes that don't want to see it work. That's why I want them fired.

This is true, but there will be a lot of destruction in those urban centers before they get it curtailed. Trump being the antagonist to the communist movement would be delaying their advancement by winning a second term. But it's only a holdup to the inevitable.

A ton of players, including some of MSU's, are using the hashtag #wewanttoplay. Worth searching on Twitter.

If those kids were tweeting #BLM and they were organizing protests on campuses (large crowds) these presidents wouldn't blink an eye. They'd praise them for their leadership. But they won't let them decide their own fate on this? Some presidents need to be shown the door.

Every time I see people bitching about sports being cancelled because of COVID I think of the lyrics to 'Smells Like Teen Spirit'.
"With the lights out, it's less dangerous
Here we are now, entertain us
    I feel stupid and contagious
Here we are now, entertain us"
    Just change "out" to "on".
I guess Gen X has changed their focus.

You?re actually missing the point big time. Go read about mob mentality/psychology and group think. Or better yet read 1984.

The reality is that the media feeds the masses whatever it wants to and social media amplifies that message times 100. It doesn?t matter what is true only what is being told. The truth becomes irrelevant. When you place cancel culture into an environment like that then you have a recipe for disaster because what the group thinks is what is right and if you have an alternate opinion then your life or business is destroyed (both literally and figuratively). The supposedly unbiased media usually walks lock-step with those canceling people as well and, in turn, amplifies cancel culture. It?s a symbiotic relationship that can 100% destroy anything...and politicians, celebrities, journalists, you name it are scared shitless of that. So the message is repeated and repeated until the truth and neutrality is gone and only the group message remains.

One of the biggest cancel culture movements going right now is trying to cancel our President and the media is complicit in this (outside of Fox News -which is a whole other issue). I don?t agree with everything he does but a lot of what is happening right now is an attempt to break him and impact the elections. It?s kind of obvious. But more devious and despicable to me is the underlying movement to cancel America. It?s happening right now. Quickly.

I'm not missing the point, and I've read plenty of Orwell, 1984 included, thank you very much....but holy hell, the blissful irony on display here, while at the same time preaching about group think and mob mentality....

Wait... so it’s ironic that a small group of people on a message board agree and don’t go along with the media mandated group think? Ok...

As always, the middle ground is the correct way but everyone wants extremes.

Middle ground? Extremes? POTUS being cancelled? Impact elections (lol!)?

Think about those words in reference to your previous post. Again...irony.

It's the communist government of China that's the enemy of the U.S. Not necessarily Chinese nationals and certainly not Chinese-Americans.

BeardoMSU and Dawgology, you are both right, and both wrong.

Sure, Football being cancelled is the choice of conference officials, media talking heads have no authority over that issue. On the other hand, it's undeniable that social media can persuade and pressure leaders into making decisions that they wouldn't want to make had they not been pushed. An agenda was handed down from somewhere to some media members(who have an indirect, collective audience of tens of millions, if you follow college football at all you have heard something about this in the last 48 hours) and it has been pushed, they are just doing their jobs, reporting information that they receive. Maybe it was from the conference officials in order to prepare the masses for the inevitable, or maybe just to gauge popular opinion before making the call. Maybe it was from government agencies in order to put pressure on conference officials to cancel the season. I really don't know and never will. However, i do know that certain media members were pushing an agenda, and I do know that if the CFB season is canceled, it wasn't their fault. Don't kill the messenger, it's literally their job to be mouth pieces.

Are democrats exaggerating all things COVID and causing as much chaos and tension as possible in order to cancel Trump as president? No, COVID is real and so are the other issues being sensationalized across the country. On the other hand, I do know that the Dems despise the republican party and more specifically Donald Trump with everything they have. I do know that their is an election in November they desperately want to win, and I do know they will take advantage of whatever current issues they can in order to give themselves an edge, it's called trying to win, and you are kidding yourselves if you believe both sides aren't just as guilty of this.

In reality, we are where we are in America today because of the system that we follow. There is no middle ground, that's the problem, and it's undeniable. It started hundreds of years ago when our fore fathers created the two party system. We live in a binary society where on every issue, there are only two paths, one is red, one is blue, there is no in between. You check 1 box and you are checking 100s of sub boxes, with a lot of them having nothing to do with politics, you have no choice, voting for this side means voting for everything it stands for, even if you don't. Instead of having our own opinions against the grain of your party, we just accept that these are our beliefs and blindly fight for them. This creates division, hatred, and deception. We are 2 countries all living amongst each other inside the same border, and we are at digital Civil War.

Social Media and party backed News outlets have brought all of this to a boiling point. People across America spend large portions of their days mindlessly scrolling through social media and believe everything they see because they only follow people that say things they want to believe. Social media censors what you read, and what you can say, therefore what you believe. Anything you say on social media can be seen by anyone with internet access in the world, meaning someone will be offended and you will be beaten into submission by people who's beliefs align with the offended, muzzling true self expression. Party backed News Outlets control the lens you see the world and country through, on both sides. We have no choice, there is no news anymore, there is just red and blue propaganda. Either don't watch the news, or be brainwashed and spoon fed what your party wants you to believe. It's all built on hatred and greed, the two main causes of war. News outlet says it, follower then goes to social media and relay the message, and the cycle of party fed information trickles down through society over and over. How often do you hear someone say, "I heard(insert info here)", where did they hear it, probably somewhere on social media, which they heard from someone who heard it or read it on some biased news site/channel, its truly the age of misinformation, aka propaganda.

We the people are no longer in control, we are pitted against each other, and handed pitchforks and torches by the parties we represent. Both sides are equally wrong, both sides are equally guilty. Both sides are the cause and the effect of a binary society, it's a downward spiral with no end in sight.

Somewhere along the way we quit being Americans, and started being Democrats or Republicans.

We no longer compromise, we escalate.
We no longer respect, we degrade.
We no longer think, we are told.
We no longer communicate, we hide behind screens.
We no longer listen, we interrupt or impatiently wait until its our turn to spew BS.
We no longer decide, we blindly follow.
We are no longer under God, but instead under pressure to be neutral in our beliefs.
We no longer seek justice, but instead seek revenge.
We are no longer free, but instead prisoners of our own "side".
We no longer are one nation, but instead two clans in perpetual war.

It's a mess and it's hard to believe how lost we have become. The party leaders have used and abused their two platforms, their social media militias and news outlet propaganda specialist, so much that its gotten to the point where it's normalized and we don't even realize what is going on. We are all being used to further agendas of people that don't give a rats ass about you. We are all brainwashed pawns fighting someone else's fight under the impression that this is how life is supposed to be. America has it's scars and dark past, no doubt, but in the grand scheme, America was created to be a place where you can believe, say and do what you want without being socially disgraced or persecuted. We have lost sight of that and I honestly don't know if we will ever get back to thinking as one nation. You can't put technology back in the box once its created, social media, biased news channels, it will only get worse as long as they continue making money and pushing the agenda's of the people who regulate and control them.

You think the Egg Bowl is toxic? It's light hearted child's play compared to the rivalry between our countries two parties. In the end, all the issues we have, come down to our binary society and the Cowboys that are herding us into the left or right pasture, branding us before locking us in and feeding us as much hay as we can eat until it comes out the other end as bull shit. As long as we keep eating it, they will keep feeding it, and the cycle continues.

I'm extremely concerned about the future of our country and our society as a whole, things have to change from the top down in order for things to really get better, and I don't think that's a realistic expectation. Instead of divisive and exclusive social movements (all lives matter, with all due respect), why not all get together and demand equality and fair treatment for all American citizens? Why not demand change from the leaders of this country, who purposely pit us against each other in order to push their agendas and divert attention from the real problem... the greed and mind control from the 0.1% and people we elect to serve the 99.9% of us every day Americans.

That is my first and last politically based post, mods feel free to delete. If I offended anyone, I'm sorry. I respect your opinion and your right to have that opinion. Let's find a middle ground and figure it out together.

It's gonna be a long fall without football, COVID can go **** itself.
