RIP DJ Looney
He was coaching at Louisiana Lafayette. Died of a heart attack at practice.

Praise The Lord and Go Dawgs!!!

I'll always be thankful for him working his tail off to keep our commitments after Mullen left. I was hoping he'd find himself back on the staff here one day. Prayers for the family.

Just heard. So tragic. He had a great career in coaching ahead of him and was such a great guy. So sad. Thoughts and prayers for his family.
-
Is this the 4th former Mullen player to pass within a year?
-
That’s terrible. Prayers for his family. RIP
-
Wow! So sad, way to young! Praying for his family!

Don't know him personally but it felt horrible reading. Very active on twitter and seems like a great guy. Not everything is preventable or easily identified but you're never too young to go get a check up.

Dang. Talk about unexpected... DJ had a great personality.
Everyone wants to be a beast...until its time to do what beasts do.

My wife and I were in a Target in Mountain Brook Alabama one day several years back. A young lady approached me and said Hail State. I was wearing a State shirt. We got to talking and she was DJ’s sister. She asked me if I knew who DJ was. I yelled “DJ Looney?!?!?!?” She got so excited and hugged my neck. Seemed like a real good family. Terrible loss. Prayers for his family.

I went to Super Bulldog weekend back in 2016 and sat on the visiting side. As I walked into the stands, I heard a lady cheer and said that was her son. I asked and she said DJ Looney. I remember my exact quote: "We love DJ." She smiled real hard and thanked me. She was keeling her grand daughter. DJ came and talked to her and got the grand daughter and let her meet Dak. I talked to them for the rest of the game. What a great family he had. Makes it personal for me.

This is so sad. MSU has had too many tragic early deaths associated with our former players. It's heartbreaking.
-
Sad news, seems like we've lost so many at young age as a Bulldog. Prayers to family.
-
Always wanted him to be back at State coaching. Seemed like a rising star in the profession and an overall great guy. Prayers.

Just saw this. So young, and so sad. A heart attack. Damn.
-
RIPD.
Rest In Peace Dawg.
