Question: If you put the 2014 Offense with the 2018 Defense does MSU win....
-
Depends on the coach. 2014, good chance. 2018, hell no

OXFORD, Miss. (WTVA) - Ole Miss campus police ask students to behave at future baseball games following a recent incident.
The university said students were reportedly throwing rocks at Georgia baseball players during last weekend's series.

The DL depth on the 2018 team was unbelievable. You essentially had a 3-deep rotation of guys who you could rotate in and out without seeing a drop in production. The 2014 defense was pretty solid, but they could've been even better if not for the 1A-1B crap. The 2018 defense had the depth to make mass rotations like that. The 2014 defense did not.

I think the '14 defense was a little stifled because of the 1A/1B stuff, and probably would have been higher rated if they stuck to a traditional player rotation.
That being said, I think the difference in the 2 defenses was the back end. Abrams was such a beast.

I'm not sure we get their with Dan either. His risk aversion, tendency to take his foot off the gas, and tendency to play experience over talent, I think still would have kept us out of winning the Natty.
It would be fun to watch though.

Yes, we wouldn’t have gone down 19-0 to Alabama and had to mount a furious comeback in Tuscaloosa. And no way does the 18 defense give up that many points to a one-legged Bo Wallace or allow that run in Oxford to happen. The 2014 defense for whatever reason was susceptible to the big play, but the 2018 defense gave up one all year.
All this assumes Mullen was the coach. Moorhead’s check with me BS would have ruined that offense too.

We make the playoffs, but still lose to Bama. Mullen coaches tight in big games. And the team plays tight.

does this mythical season include a trip to Tuscaloosa?

Mullen? Yes**. Moorehead? No.
**It also depends on the year.. 2014 we could have got in with one loss assuming we beat Bama and winning the whole thing. 2019 I don't think we beat Clemson.

Playoffs w/ Mullen, sure. But not a Natty.

Mullen had is issues w bama, yes, but he wasn't the tight one, that day. Dak was awful and Robinson trying to be a hero put us in the early mess.

Is the HC Mullen or Moorehead

the 15 offense and the 18 defense would've been unstoppable.

after some checking it looks like you and KO are correct .... 2014 LSU total yards were 430 but in 2018 their total yards were around 250 (can't remember exact yardage but this is close)

Yes, if Grantham is the Defensive Coordinator and we don't do the 1a/1b BS.

So, we need the 2014 offense, the 2018 defense, the 2014 offensive coaching staff, and a mix of Grantham and Shoops defensive staffs for it to work.
Should we throw in Hud on staff just to make the fantasy complete for some fans?

I'll lay out a more simple scenario.
After Mullen leaves, we hire Leach. Gardner Minshew transfers here instead of WSU. We get a couple of grad transfer WRs. We add that with our #1 defense.

Yes. Need to add Eric Moulds to the WR core and throw in Randy Thomas at guard.

Depends on Coach / Year
Mullen - 2014: We beat Bama in T-Town. We win Egg Bowl. Win SECCG. Lose to anOSU in Playoffs.
Moorhead - 2014: Lose to Aub. Lose in T-Town.
Mullen - 2018, all 2018 roster: Lose in T-Town. 11-1. Would lose rematch / vs Clemson if given chance in playoffs.
Mullen - 2018 mixed roster: 13-0. Lose rematch w/ Bama if they are there or to Clemson.
Moorhead - 2018 mixed roster: 11-1. Lose in T-town. Would lose any playoff game.
