    Weather Dawgs

The nut jobs have obviously ruined this site but just wondering if the weather guys have insight on the storm coming up.

Not looking like anything too out of the ordinary for a tropical system. Expected to make landfall on the LA coast as a tropical storm. As is the case with any landfalling system, tornadoes on the eastern side are a concern although most are usually weak and short lived. Butt ton of rain will be the second point. Areas along the coast could see up to 8" (that's not what she said). As it moves inland areas from the center to just east could see 4-6". For eastern MS going to be a glancing blow at 1-2" if you get a couple bands move over you. As far as winds are concerned, 50-60mph with some gusts maybe up to 70 right along the LA and MS coast with a band of 30-50mph with gusts up to 60 just to the east of the center. Based on current tracking I'd set that band up right along the MS river. From I-55 and points east I'd put winds sustained 15-20 with isolated gusts 30-40 if a particularly stronger band moves over you. Storm surge is forecast to be 3-5' in the warning area so could see some beach erosion and flooding issues along low lying coastal areas.

Saving grace on this one is sea surface temps from the central Gulf to the shoreline we're still low to mid 70's last I looked. Tropical systems like surface temps 80+ so as it moves north it just doesn't have that bathtub type water to feed on like it would have in August and September.

Spreading Fertilizer in the morning. We are in a drought here on the coast and we need the rain.

Projections for the MS coast are between 4-15 inches of rain. Eastern MS coast will be more of that 4-8 inch territory. Closer towards New Orleans will be the 10+ inch values.

Also, on Monday there is a low end severe risk, mainly due to the potential for there to be some small spin up tornadoes in the rain bands from Cristobal.

Ah, yeah, the nut jobs on this site have ruined it by pretty much keeping COVID to a couple of threads, and hardly discussing almost 2 weeks of national protest; meanwhile over at SPS there are 9 locked threads on the front page. We may get off topic in a few - like racing cars to T-Town - but, shit, there's absolutely no sports to talk about, so what else are we supposed to do?

"We will have no problem in handling Kentucky."-Turfdawg67. MSU suffered a 27-17 defeat in 2022 with 225 yards in total offense.

The SPC has upgraded a lot of eastern MS to a slight risk of severe weather Monday as breaks in the clouds should allow enough destabilization for the remnants of Cristobal to develop a tornado threat...primarily in the brown shaded area.
