Sorry Shotgun, some bad news about the football season
Dallas news outlet reporting that five Oklahoma State football players have tested positive for COVID19. The school has cancelled the arrival of freshmen players that was scheduled for Monday.
Not sure how the NCAA and schools will react to this reality.

They'll probably just quarantine them. Also is it the antibodies that they are positive for or actual COVID?
-
I bet this has no impact and certainly won't have on the SEC ... let's look back ...Tulane had 29 players who had the swine Flu in 2009 And that flu actually was deadly for people under 29 years of age ... they still played a full schedule.

What I'm thinking too. The media will blow it out of proportion without all of the facts. In the meantime America moves forward.....as will college football.
Remember that these players are just now reporting. They haven't been training together as a team at least.

Right on cue. As soon as a college athlete tests positive you will have certain news outlets and posters blowing it up. I’m going to let you in on a secret. As college athletes return to college they will ALL get tested (probably for the first time) and some of them will have it. Others will test positive but actually just have the antibodies.

This isn't a conspiracy, dude. It was, as a matter of fact, the POTUS that recommended the shutdown, which the Guvs followed suit. Don't make it a lib vs con thing. That's lazy.

To me it's the media blowing things out of proportion as they always do.

I don't think the NCAA will cancel football based on media coverage. These decisions come from the top down, or at least one hopes they will.

Absolutely. But this is just the media being the media. I expect most states to be in Phase 3 if not phase 4 by football season.

It’s funny because you jumped right to that. I didn’t say any of the things you assumed. I don’t think it’s a conspiracy I think in this specific situation to which I was referring in my initial post that it is alarmist and some media outlets attempting to get clicks or stay relevant in a limited sports world. I don’t know what POTUS, libs, or con have anything to do with what I posted. You literally added all of that.

Guess you just completely stopped paying attention when the media accused both the Florida and Georgia Governors of mass murder when they opened their states.
Please at least do some modicum of research into states that are open and those closed before posting idiotic statements.

The media is just one example, Trump was being 'political' too! Guess YOU forgot that you said .. "Don't make it a lib vs con thing."
Sorry, but it IS political. You can't just 'wish' it wasn't!

Just reporting the facts, bud. No agenda, just keeping ED aware of developing stories.

You would expect some players that have never been tested to come up positive for the corona 19 or the antibodies. I don't think that was made clear as to which. The great thing in these protocols is the testing is the first step, so these folks are isolated immediately. These protocols are going to work. College athletes are going to be the absolute best protected individuals in the country. I wish it could work for everybody! Mississippi had a student athlete and a staff member test positive today.
Hail State and can we all remember our MSU family in our prayers.
Praise The Lord and Go Dawgs!!!

It has been reported that one of the Ok St players thinks he picked it up at a protest rally in Tulsa....doesn't change anything regarding football season, but there will surely be more cases now.

Players in European soccer have been testing positive in Germany and England and their shows are still going on.

These are the first of hundreds of college football players who will test positive over the next few months. It is very very unlikely any of those who test positive will die.
Mississippi is a state of 2.9 million people. There have only been 782 deaths. Only one of those was under 30-years old.
Football season is going to happen.

Not sure what I think about this sentiment. Football is not a required activity for all of us living our lives. It is not essential. If I had control of such things, not sure I would allow games to be played unless the players are clearly not infected and or contagious. There is not a single player in the SEC, I would want at risk to this thing based on something we control like games and practice.
If they are unfortunate to get it randomly around town, well that really cannot be controlled beyond social distancing and common sense personal safety.
I still believe games will be played, but I am not sure I am on board with 100k going to the games. Just too much risk. I do understand each person has the opportunity to make that choice for themselves. People just do not have the control over the issue that makes personal choice not cut and dry. Anyone's choice on this right now has direct impact on others, that may not have that choice.
