Her hiring a veteran coach like Coach K Freeman was a great move at Old Dominion and I?m happy to see her bring him to Mississippi State. She appears to be very active on social media and engaging to recruits. Coach McCray-Penson?s record at Old Dominion got better by year.
In the SEC I?m more curious as to how she does in her first year against Arkansas and Kentucky than South Carolina. Both Coach Neighbors and Coach Mitchell would love to be able to bloody her nose early.
Overall I still think the biggest issue she will have to overcome quickly is making up ground on recruiting the elite level players. If A James or a similar player commits to her this early in the game then that is a big step for her.

Added 5-10 guard Jasmine Shavers (#60 ESPN) from Mesquite Texas to the class of 2021 recruiting list. Miss. State offer reported April 18. Note....Shavers has a really nice looking perimeter stroke, including midrange.

Class of 2021 Point guard Jada Walker...has announced Miss. State in her top 5.

This is the point guard that I posted about having led her high school team (New Hope Academy, Maryland) to the Geico Girls Basketball National Championship last year. Previously rated #25 class 2021 by ESPN, few days ago (new rankings released April 22) to #63. This, after transferring (during this past season) to play for Henrico HS in Virginia.

On the path to the national championship last year, she and her New Hope Academy team knocked off Aliyah Matharu and Bishop McNamara in the Maryland tourney. Also, knocked off St. John's Academy led by #1 ranked player Azzi Fudd....in the Geico National Championship Game. Jada Walker was named MVP. Also, she guarded Azzi Fudd in the game, and was a big key to holding her to 14 total points.

Any idea as to why she might have fallen in the rankings? Thanks.

Haven't seen a reason stated publicly for her drop in the rankings. She's definitely one of the very top 2021 point guards available though. Still put her in the same conversation with uncomitted point guards like Raven Johnson and Damiya Hagemann.

Quite a few really good players out there for transfer. Just saw Oregon's post player (Freshman Lucy Cochrane) is in the transfer portal too. She's an Aussie and 6'5".
Seeing how Coach Nikki has been on record saying we have room for three more, just thought I would mention post players are available.

#6 ESPN Class 2021 forward, Sania Feagin announced today....Miss. State as one of her top 6 schools (destinations).

Also, Coach Nikki McCray-Penson indicated in a recent interview that they are looking at the transfer portal...potential grad-tranfers to fill additional roster needs for the upcoming season. She indicated only 10 players (this, including M. Hayes) on the current roster, and need for enough depth.

Looks like a perfect PG for us, dribble drive/assists/confidence/no turnovers/crossover/etc. Her downside is her size, very small @ 5'6". Not a huge concern as any size player can play, just a factor in terms of defensive match-ups.

Shes listed 5-7 in some places as well. Eitherway has been really good defensively on the high school level, including a noted defender on a defensive minded national champion New Hope Academy team during the 2018-19 season and part of last season, then at Henrico. Also, her coaches put her on 5-11 Azzi Fudd (#1 rated class 2021) in the Geico National Champiinship Game....held her to 14 points, and was named MVP. She literally creates havoc defensively. (Note) Had nearly 6 steals per game this past season (5.9 per gm).

I've watched her videos, she can play with anyone. Not concerned with that. She is a gamer.
Defensive intensity will continue to be a trademark of MSU women's basketball.

I rarely watch the WNBA but I would have to imagine it's the height. Most elite PGs at that level seem to be in the 5'7-5'10 range and unless you have an elite skill you can't overcome that. She shot it well, she handled the ball well, and played defense well. But she didn't do anything at an elite level that would cancel out the height issue. Great college player though.

Reigan Richardson, #39 overall ESPN class of 2021 wing/guard reported a Miss. State offer on April 16. She now has Miss. State listed in her top 6.

She's listed in the 5-11, 6-0 ft area
