"After dealing with Ole Miss for over a year," he said, "I've learned to expect their leadership to do and say things that the leadership at other Division I schools would never consider doing and to justify their actions by reminding themselves that "We're Ole Miss.""

No AD in America could've won those battles here.

Yeah - it's not like we haven't given Mullen or Vic everything they've asked for. Sometimes coaches just want a change
-
Hate that the national titles slipped through his fingers. Extremely unlikely his successor will keep us at that high of a level, even if he/she is very good.

We matched Texas' contract.
He lost him. Plain and simple.

This is a prime example why you fire coaches that don't win.
There is no loyalty. Either win or your gone.

This hurts. We were poised to contend for the title over the next few years.
Go get Matthew Mitchell at Kentucky. Louisville, MS native who has built a good program at UK. Beaten our tail a few times over the years. Make him say no.

For sure.
Our inability hold onto top coaches though prevents us from competing nationally in anything but baseball.
Frustrating to lose Vick and Mullen in the course of a few years.
Cohen has to know that. You can't built or sustain when losing your best people.

They offered him 10 MILLION TO STAY!!!!! What else do you want Cohen to do??? We aren't making a guy who hasn't won a natty the highest paid coach in the sport. Although, that contract would've put him pretty dang close.

Now our fans can go back to supporting the men?s team
-
Could always go get Dawn Staley ....

This coming from the guy who says MS HS players should have more pride in their state and stay home. Yet when a guy takes his talents back to his home state you crap on him.
This will allow us to start allocating more money to football and basketball again..you know sports that make money and don?t lose it.

Average women's coach tenure is 9 years - Vic stayed 8
Average football coach tenure is 3.8 years - Mullen was here 9.
What keeps programs solid today is hiring quality coaches - no one stays long anymore except rare guys like Saban.
-
If there was a number that could have made him stay, then shame on Cohen for not keeping him.
If not (as was the case for Mullen), Cohen has to get a pass, but he can't follow up with a wbb version of Moorhead.

If having a great women's basketball team was holding us back some in these sports, I'm ok with this then. I much prefer those 2 sports

That thought crossed my mind also.
