Rosebowl Say....
Costello is done with school April 3rd.
Assuming things get back on track here soon or in a reasonable amount of time, the Corona may help our football team since the starting QB will be able to go through whatever version of Spring practice is allowed.
FWIW, many ADs are proposing a 15 mini-camp type deal in June or July with time off before Fall practice.

If they're proposing that they must think that we will be through with this crisis by then.

Leach's offense is supposed to be very simple so I'm not too worried about install or our guys picking it up. Not sure about Arnett's defense but I don't think Joe Lee Dunn's was super complex either for a comparison.

He needs time to build chemistry with team and especially the receivers

Joe Lee's concept was simple in theory but it had a lot of moving parts to it.

I am worried about the S&C on the team with the virus. I am also worried about losing the 15 days of spring that would enable the offense to be learned. Hopefully the NCAA is going to give those 15 days back at some point. If Leach had been here for a while I would not be so worried about the offense and defense. I would also imagine would have had some transfers after spring practice. This might keep those who might have transferred around.

Can Costello just join the team mid semester? Didn’t this semester start back in January? I would think he wouldn’t be able to join until the summer? Or are there different rules for graduate school?

I'm thinking since they are on distance learning he can be anywhere ...but I'm not sure he can do any official workouts until he has his degree

You're spot on with this Jack. Hopefully the guys have developed a mentality to be better than last year and are not sitting at the house playing video games.

Bingo. The offense itself is not complex and high schools around the country install it in 3 days. However, chemistry between the QB and skill players is a big part of how well it will actually work in the games. It would be huge for us to have KJ here for whatever mini-camp might be allowed before fall practice starts.

Agree with the S&C but everyone is in the same boat.
We'll get the Spring training back

Hi Jack hope things are well with you and your family. All athletic programs are dealing with Strength and Conditioning thru out the world. The main competition world wide is to inspire self motivation from afar being that athletic congregation is not doable. Thought I'd send you and your son a link of inspiration. Maybe the Miss State Bulldogs who read this link might get inspired with you. I recommend this link to my players to spark self motivation and inspiration during these trying times. I'd like to say hi to fellow elitedoggers who have sons playing ball and fellow coaches also. Best wishes from San Diego.

It's also the ability to practice the same plays enough to run them in your sleep that gives this system an advantage.

You got to think Alabama is having full on additional winter workouts throughout this. Even if each player is working out in small groups. They are probably also having installation days over the internet.
If we are not doing that with our position groups, we are losing time.
