Ole Miss is #37. We're number #57. Any idea of how they gross so much more? Does anyone know their contract with Nike vs ours with Adidas? Are we actually going to get paid fairly this year with our new contract and will it be Adidas again (I hope not).

I believe we stay with Adidas, but they need to make an effort to showcase us a little more. Top tier conference, top tier ratings, should equal top tier deal.

I've always felt that lists like this are stupid.

They don't consider accounting methods that are different from school to school & they don't take into account TV contracts that are "athletics revenue" not necessarily "Football" revenue.

Again, these lists are stupid & virtually meaningless IMO.

I'm sure someone will chime in from MSU and tell you how "good Adidas has been to us".

Drs and Lawyers v Engineers and Business degrees. Both have farmer fans.

Maybe it is the area in which I live ..... but OM seems to have a larger, more active fan base.

Ole Miss entire athletic department is a failure. What are they doing with that money? Eventually NIKE is going to say you are not worth what we are paying you.

When are we going to tell Adidas they are not they aren't worth what they are paying us. They've screwed us. I really hope Cohen and company makes them pay for it. Preferably let's Adidas get in a bidding war with Nike and then take Nike or whomever that's a top American brand that pays the most.

    This isn't true.

MSU's fan base is more concentrated in Mississippi and Ole Miss has a greater out of state influence. Both fan bases are about the same size on the whole.

That being said, Ole Miss May have more money due to the professions they produce and having more out of state alumni likely means they have a greater presence in bigger markets.

However, the discrepancy here: I think you can chalk much of it up to different accounting methods as it's make little sense anyway else.

I think it's funny how so many are jumping on Adidas here when they have little evidence of such and don't know how these numbers were even pulled together accounting wise.

Again, without details, these discussion are stupid. You only have 1/3 of the information at best.

Not sure about the Adidas argument. Without knowing financial specifics, I think they've been pretty good for MSU. About a year ago I was looking at the Adidas online catalog and they seemed to have MSU logos and unis displayed across all sports. I was a little surprised how much MSU was in the magazine. I then went to Nike's website and om was definitely not promoted like State was, they were barely in there at all.

I think the fanbases are similar in size but I do think State has more. They outsell us in both football and basketball and I'm guessing that's where a large part of this financial difference is.

I agree. Some schools count concessions in their revenue numbers and others do not. Some schools count donations to their version of the Bulldog Club and others do not. Schools count it all differently.

Nah. We both have always had the same kind of graduates as we have now and there have been recent years where we had more revenue than OM.

Sometimes schools jump up because they just finished a huge donation campaign and that particular year is higher than others. Also, schools account differently and count revenue sources that others don't. I don't know anything particular about OM or State.
