    Bicycle question

I'm looking at buying either a Hybrid or Mountain Bike. Any help or recommendations on choosing is appreciated. Budget is $1200.

It all depends, where you going to ride. Hybrid bike has lighter frame and a narrower tire. Also has no suspension. Mountain Bike is designed fora rougher terrain.
Hybrid is a smoother ride and faster, also sits more upright.

I ride average 20-25 miles pretty much everyday. I have a Giant which is the #1 seller internationally and cheaper than the Trek which is #1 in America. My next ride will be a gravel bike.

Thanks for responding. I think a Hybrid would be right for me for now. I was hoping for something that would do both but not sure it exists. I've been looking at the Trek Xcalibur, Dual Sport (H), and Giant Fathom.

Good luck, all 3 good choices, just test ride all three to see what you like best. I don't ride for speed although if I see some fat chick or old man ahead my instincts take over to catch them and pass. I'm like I can take them or I should be able to, doesn't always work. LOL. It's great exercise, wish I would have started bike riding years ago, I use to run, but my body wore down from the pounding. I have had two knee operations, was told years ago I would have to have knee replacement. My knee never hurts anymore.

Good luck and if you don't have a helmet or lights get them!

Wife and I both have hybrids. I have a Raleigh and hers is the female brand of Giant - Liv. Are?s are in the $500 range, and great, so for what you are wanting to spend I can?t imagine how awesome it will be

I have been interested in Bikesdirect.com web site. I have called them asking questions about certain bikes. Got really good info and their Bikes are way cheaper than Bike shops. They will ship Bikes directly to you, they even have a video how to put them together. I'm probably gonna get a Gravel Bike from them, then take it to Bike Shop and let them put it together.

Btw, my "go to guy" at a Bike shop moved to Little Rock, he was straight up and I ask him about Bikesdirect, said they have just as good parts/frames as Trek or Giant. Just saying.

I ride 20-25 miles pretty much everyday, I've never ridden 50 mile so it's my goal this year. I'm not so interested in speed as I am the distance but I don't like some fat chick over taking me, but I realize sometimes they have faster bikes and are just better than I. Your bike makes a huge difference in speed, distance and comfort.
