THis is correct. Coroners are an elected position and, in most counties, it's more a popularity contest as opposed to an election based on qualification. They have to take a 2 week course once elected to learn how to do the paperwork,et c and get "certified".

You are correct with this statement. Most of the easy way out if an autopsy or testing is not needed. See my previous post from twitter
