Vandy Pitchers potentially sitting out the Weekend...

It's not just us with these issues.
Also, remember Kevin Abel? The Freshman that won 4 games in the College World Series? Welp, he is not on the Oregon State roster in 2020 and has only pitched 16 innings for OSU since then.

Yeah that was total insanity! Complete lack of regard for the player by the coaching staff. Smh

That's a shame. But at least he did us a solid and denied the #Omahogs a natty.*

What's crazy is that 75 years ago in baseball this was commonplace. You would see guys start games 1 and 3 of a playoff series and go the entirety of both games.

Granted we all know the scholly advantages they have but the difference between us losing a couple and them losing a couple is the quality of their depth......

Their quality is mostly on their pitching staff and losses like that still affect them.

Also true haha! People don't play outside like they used to. I've heard people make comments before that it's led to a lot of the knee injuries and stuff we see now. I'm sure it's a mixture of stuff like that and the size and speed of athletes now as well....
I saw a graph the other day on pitchers throwing 90 and over the other day. Have to see if I can find that....

Here's the article I ran across which I just realize is outdated now. http://camdendepot.blogspot.com/2011...hanged-in.html
This is a more up to date but both are still interesting.... https://blogs.fangraphs.com/the-velo...has-plateaued/

Baseball players are growing .... wonder if and how soft tissues (tendons and cartridge) scale up to match the weight and power of the modern game.
