Bednar is legit. That back foot slider he can throw to left handed hitters is something else. He can spot fastballs at 95 too. He is thick on the lower half and just looks built for extended outings. I hope he gets the nod next weekend. He challenges hitters and will be big time after he develops a consistent third pitch.
Sims has that look too.

Good bounce back win. Really good to see our offense wake up. Let's hope it continues and wasn't just a one game thing. Had to go run an errand and missed the offensive explosion. Maybe they just do better when I don't watch.

If he builds up enough endurance and JT doesn't come back I could see us maybe looking at starting him.

Yep. I think I'd give him a chance next weekend.
Lost in all that today is Rowdey really having a good day at the leadoff spot. He started the momentum and Westy battled in a 1-2 count for a single.
Big win today. I feel we haven't really played a complete game just yet. And we have weekend series wins against Wright State and Oregon State. To have a chance to add another tomorrow against a top 25 team while playing far from our best is encouraging. I'd rather be having issues at the plate than on the mound. I trust our bats. I may would lose my money because baseball can be cruel, but id sure bet on Allen, Rowdey, Fosc, Hatch, Westy, etc to hit the ball. The early returns on the mound are encouraging.

I would start Bednar against Texas Tech on the Tues game. Let him rest the Quinipac series. I think he would be a hell of a starter. Ease him I to starting like Vandy is doing with Leiter(sp). Let him gain confidence and then let him move to Friday nights. We have Texas Tech, SMiss, and Ole Miss during the wk. we need to find someone who can beat those guys.

That's a fair thought with the Texas tech series. Beyond that, I want Bednar to get meaningful innings on SEC weekends.
Our schedule has been strange. Lots of wet weather and cold. A trip to California. Hosting a a very good mid major contender and one of the best programs of the last decade in Oregon State. You get southern in pearl, tech in Biloxi and Arkansas in Starkville in the next 2 weeks. Those are some big name programs on the front side of a schedule.

I would definitely rather have issues at the plate right now than on the mound. The pitching has surprised me in a good way. I'd kind of like to see Harding again but not overextend him. I still think we eventually move MacLeoud to Friday at some point.

Same here. Hitting will come around but pitching has been actually impressive.
The older guys came through at the plate tonight. Hope it continues so the new guys like Pimentel, Leggett and Cumbest can get comfortable in the box

Take this into account and let?s play hypotheticals for a second...
2020, yea we loose a ton at the plate.(Even tho I?m not convinced we loose all the Jrs)
But look at our pitching...
Smith should be back and healthy
Macleod
Cerentola
Bednar
Sims
Ginn (of he wants to get drafted in the first, he needs to either have surgery and get to rehabbing for next yr, or start pitching. No one is gonna take a chance on an arm in the first who doesn?t pitch)
We could have one hell of a rotation next yr.
