    Madison Hayes last night ....
    28 points
    17 rebounds
    9 assists
    5. blocks
    4 steals

    Game before this one....
    30 points
    15 rebounds
    9 assists
    5 steals
    4 blocks

Coach Schaefer and Coach Johnnie Harris were at the game last night.

My opinion she's very capable of coming in as a freshman next season.....heavy in the mix for playng time, even a starting spot. At this point, she and Aliyah Matharu appear 2 of the top candidates for Jordan Danberry's spot. Jayla Hemingway is in the mix as well. Myah Taylor and JaMya Mingo-Young are currently working at the point. Keep an eye, Mingo-Young could factor as a top option at the 2 as well, her defense and other aspects of her game and on court presence give the coaches confidence in her. Coaching staff, currently.. still move her back over the 2 when needed. Also, Rickea Jackson is at the 4 spot, Hayes, Wiggins, ect...can play the 3. If needed...Hayes can play point guard as well. Tremendous talent, high energy. Ability to play various positions.

Chattanooga Alumni Chapter hosted an event at the game. Basically so Madison would have her MSU family in the stands for senior night. Give that chapter their due applause on it. It was very cool, and supportive.

According to Madison Hayes' head coach at East Hamilton HS (TN), she can play every position on the court. In my opinion....opportunity for a good bit of playing time at Miss. State next season.

Her best position may possibly be point guard. She appears really smooth, has great court vision and awareness. Shows very good poise, leadership, especially for a high school player. Very good passing the ball to her teammates as her team's secondary point guard...they have another player as the primary point, but Hayes normally does a good bit to most of the team's playmaking from a hybrid type position. If Coach Schaefer would give her a good look at the point position....could payoff. She's smooth with the ball, high level player. Also, she's exceptional on defense, with very good atheticism and instincts, high energy. Tough player.

I watched a good bit of East Hamilton's game against powerhouse Hamilton Heights. They (East Hamilton HS) got beat pretty good in that game, but you could easily see that Hayes was one of the best players on the court. Had a few mistakes, but her court vision, ball handling, passing ability, and poise were very noticeable. Off ball movement on both ends looked sharp, movement with sort of an even flow. Not easily rushed offensively, showed an ability to dictate pace. Had lazy looking pass here and there. Also, wasn't impressive from the perimeter, but normally took good shots. Showed good ability to get to the free throw line, even if she forced the shot on a drive. Very good at the free line in this game. She blocked shots in this game, knocked balls loose, solid on defense. Overall...looked good. Mostly looked to help setup her teammates.

Hamilton Heights looked like an SEC level team. Also, has one player (Kamilla Cardoso) around 6-6, 6-7, and another (who's recruiting this player) that looked even taller. Mostly high level division 1 type talent. Very good guards, very quick, good shooters. This team can beat quite a few division 1 college teams, some fairly easily.

Madison Hayes last night in the girls high school playoffs (Tennessee)....

    37 points
    13 rbs
    6 steals
    1 block

Also, she was Rickea Jackson's teammate on the FIBA U18 3x3 World Cup Championship Girls Basketball Team that played in Mongolia last summer.

I've been telling the board about this kid.

Where does she project? What I've seen she looks like a combo guard but has a consistent game across the board.

    Taylor
    Hayes
    Wiggins
    Jackson
    Carter

    Matharu
    Mingo young
    Cooks
    Chloe
    Hemmingway
    Aeh
    Morris
    Taylor

We may have two top ten WBB teams in Starkville next year. Relative to competition within that specific sport, the women's team next year will be the most talented in MSU history. You have to think one or two leave for minutes.

And we lose no one to graduation if my first five I posted start. They are set up for some run.

If you remember Cardoso was heavily recruited by Vic and was projected by everyone to come here then at the last moment went to Syracuse. Haven't figured that one out yet.

She's young, but this kid will get all over you defensively.

I like the fire, but Schaefer may need to work to channel those emotions.

I saw where Coach Schaefer spoke at the post game press conference yesterday about needing players that will dig in their heels, and fight in games. I see digging in heels, and fighting written all over this kid Madison Hayes. Also, appears to play with a very high level of emotion, intense athlete.

Coach Schaefer...not current sold on Matharu's overall defense. My opinion, this helps make Hayes the favorite for becoming the starter at the 2 spot for next season. Mingo-Young, usually solid defensively, could possibly move over from the point....in the mix at the 2 as well. Also, Wiggins and Espinoza....either or both could possibly move from the wing....in the mix at the 2. Hemingway has shown flashes of doing the things asked of the coaching staff in games....her size, strength, and other physical abilitities can help bring her up in the rotation.

Wouldn't"t be surprised to see Hayes come out of this group as the starter for next season.

I am assuming that he'd prefer Cooks at C and move Carter to 4 ?
