    Friday scrimmage

This information comes from MS State Baseball Fan on facebook. Looks like Pimentel is being given every opportunity to win or lose the LF job and had 2 hits. Bryce Brock was back.

Three newcomers had good outings on the mound. He feels like freshman Landon Sims might start the year as the closer.

I?m cautiously optimistic about the pitching. I haven?t seen a single pitch thrown, but from his reports on facebook and reading between the lines of what Lemonis is saying, we might be ok on the mound. Let?s see what Cerantola does and then Price after that.

I think this team can, but we lose a lot after this year. Next year will be more of a transition year, and then perhaps we are contenders again in 2022 and 2023.

I want to see which freshmen we get through the draft. But I do think Lemonis has a good thing that will only get better here. A little worried about Ginn's start Friday with his command being off. I'm expecting only 4 maybe 5 innings out of him Friday. 5 is probably pushing it. I also want to see how Cerentola does Sunday.

I think we can if the pitching comes through as far as this year. I agree with you about 2022 and 2023. The thing about 2021 is our pitching should be more experienced but we'll lose a lot of offense.

Impossible to say. Baseball is a weird game.

The coastal Carolina Chanticleers have a damn natty. Explain that.

I bet we won't win our first until they have automated umpires doing the games. We got royally screwed against Louisville last year.

Ginn needs to Man Up this season and giving us 6 innings almost every Friday.

At least. With a SEC ace typically you want a guy that can go at least 7+ honestly.

Even though I'm 57 and a traditionalist more often than not, I'm ready for automation. I'm thinking they would have to re-define the strike zone if done. No ump calls strikes at the shoulders for obvious reasons . I'm sick and tired of seeing catchers lining up with their mitts 4 inches off the outside of the plate with the ump following suit right behind the catcher and strikes being called with the ball 5 inches outside. I'm sick and tired of seeing pitchers who throw side armed where the pitch crosses 1/2 the plate but the catcher catches it an inch or 2 off the plate and it's called a ball.

I watch some tennis every now and again and their automation is flawless. It's time baseball follow suit IMO.

The biggest disparity between quality of play and officiating is in college baseball. College baseball officials are the worst in sports. I?ve gone over the reasons why ad naseum...minor league baseball. The guy that screwed us last year is in Omaha every year, meaning he?s one of the best, and he?s still horrible. He?s the same ump that made that gosh awful call on laninfa interference back in 07. Also don?t forget that old ass moron behind the plate in the Vandy supers two years ago.

And basebal officials are arrogant by nature and in the college game the arrogance vs how actually good they are is a massive chasm. In high school baseball their are several officials around that call both high school and college. They?re easy to spot because of their arrogance, however they?re not any better than your typical high school official.
