That was injury, but...

Jacob Lindgren, Zac Houston, Dakota Hudson, Ethan Small, and Girodo all made huge leaps in performance after 1 or 2 years. Though, I would not rank Cerantola’s present state as high as many of these guys at the same time - Ethan was actually a sophomore TJ.

The deal is - if a guy with Cerantola gifts were already polished, he would not be in Maroon today, he would be a pro already. We just got to invest the innings in his development. This is normal. If Cerantola is not an All American this year, no worries, we need a Friday night for next year.

Stratton is maybe the poster child for it. Pretty much every ace we've had recently is somebody who was not good initially and took a couple years to figure it out and solidify command.

And Cerantola threw 14 innings last year. We really know next to nothing about him.
