Dove Season is just around the corner
How is everyone doing this year on their fields? The main field has corn and wheat that will be cut an burned next week. Because of the rains earlier, we have no sunflowers.
The other 2 fields will be ?Old Schooled? starting today. (Sprayed and disced this with scattered wheat). Just don?t need a lot of rain before Labor Day. We have plenty of birds hanging on the lines.
We all shoot Rios high brass. Does anyone have a report on the best prices on case quantities in Mississippi?
I keep telling myself that I should do a field for ED / County Alumni Chapter shoot. Just get off my lazy butt and plan it.

its a dove shoot what's cheap. the academy cheapo shells always work fine for me. birds have been thick around natchez area
-
I’ll check Academy this weekend

I went this morning and watched my field from 6:30- 7ish and counted 70-75 birds. Might have a decent shoot.

Sounds encouraging Tree,,,we have seeing birds in the PM as we are practicing our beer drinking

My cousin and uncle are really the ones that plan these things out. I'm just the muscle! We did a bunch of mowing and other prep two Satudays ago and are burning tomorrow (Wednesday 28 August).
I've got my Belgian Browning Sweet 16 back on line after a 15 years absence. I really started too late with my shell hunting. I've got some Federal Heavy Field Load #8 but will then have to go to HFL #7.5 before switching back to Game Load #8.
My son will be using my Dad's old break open 20 gauge, the best balance shotgun we have, even better than the 16 gauge. He's home on leave from the Army and I've hooked him up with some Heavy Field Load #8 before switching to #8 Rios. It has a tendency to stop ejecting so his backup weapon is his other grandfather's 12 gauge starting off with some Remington #9 before settling into an assortment #8, some better than others.
Hordes of birds two weeks ago. We'll see again tomorrow. Sometimes they surprise you come opening day, for better or worse.

Went 15 for 51 Sunday. Felt really good to get the 16ga smokin' again. We got 181 total with about half the hunters limiting out. Going again Monday Morning.
How'd you do?

Sunday was a limit with 26 out of 26 guys getting their limits. This morning we had 135 birds with 10 shooters. We had some “sky busters”, “turners”, “lead slingers” and young ones. But all had a great time!

We didn't do near as well Labor Day Morning, just 35 between 10 hunters. I went 0 for 6, but 4 were very low percentage "because I'm bored" attempts.
