Has anyone ever been injured as a result of a horse-collar tackle...

or does it just "look" dangerous?

Terrell Owens broke his leg on a horse-collar.

    It's an extremely dangerous tackle.

I remember back several years ago, a lot of knees and hamstring injuries from horse collars before it was deemed illegal.

I've never seen one. (injury that is) I'm assuming it's called due to the "spirit of the rules" so to speak. I know it's ok to grab some jersey but the horse collar just doesn't seem to be right. would also not like to see someone grab a runner's hair if he has a lot hanging out of his helmet. ( I know that's different than a horse collar)

I guess I can't say exactly why it should be a penalty but I don't have a problem with the call.

It was made illegal by the NFL after that. Called the "Roy Williams rule" as he was the one famous for that.

I just don't believe the stats will show a horsecollar is any more dangerous than anything else.

Vick blew up his knee on one, too. Yes, it is clearly more dangerous than a normal tackle.

It wasn't a horsecollar, but Auburn broke Treadwell by pulling him down "backwards"...

    I think it's dangerous.
