    DNF work

If you go by Dudy Noble Field you'll notice some work being done on it. Artificial surface is being installed in the entire foul area.

Why are we giving up on real grass? Seems like our Turf Grass program could figure it out.

We're not...OM did this a few years ago(theirs actually stops just pass the dugouts and doesn't go down the foul lines) -- and it looks awesome and is barely noticeable. Had they gone all the way to the foul poles like we are doing, it wouldn't be noticeable at all...

It's that the areas around the dugouts and home plate get so beaten up throughout a season that it's just crazy difficult for the grass to keep up and to keep it looking decent. Keep in mind that we practice in DNF as well...

You can see what they did at Swayze right here... And it looks great in person...

Maybe so, but plenty of places have managed to maintain fully grass fields for decades. I contend that fake grass is an abomination whenever, and wherever it is used.

I agree with this guy. If Prather can't do the job find someone who can

As have we. But even major league fields start to get worn down in foul territory. I don't really care what we put in foul territory; it won't ever make it onto the actual field in Starkville.

But nice picture, haha. Pretty sure even real grass would be an abomination there.

Agreed. I don't see the problem with it at all. I thought it was great when/how Bianco did it in Oxford...

Our fans bitch about the field -- and they bitch when we fix it. That's the most MSU thing ever

OK, I'm good with that. I hope we can stick with real grass and dirt for the field.

As long as we don't go all out Vandy style, I'm fine with it.

I've always been a purist, as far as this goes, but artifical turf has come a long way. After it gets broke in, you can barely tell the difference, especialy in smaller areas. I agree with putting it around home plate because, between Cohen's practice regimen and playing 20 home games to start the season, that area gets pretty rough looking. There is really nothing you can do to keep a thick stand of grass there. You can patch it, but it still looks bad for a month.
