    I suspect most of that is just noise. If a coach is a good coach and his teams execute, that execution is just as likely to make what should be a two score loss into a one score loss as it is to make a one score loss into a one score win. There also might be some styles of coaching that result in a better win percentage in close games without actually reflecting an increase in wins over all. Les Miles (and Mullen to a lesser extent) probably gets a bump in his "clutch" win percentage by letting a lot of games end up closer than they should be.

    Yep, it's almost like they should start only looking at games that were within one score going into the 4th quarter

    They should also weigh in the quality of the opponent. We've had some games that were closer than they should have been against some sub-par opponents.
