This statement right here ought to tell the tale:

"The Bulldogs lead the nation with 15 wins against RPI top 50"

I'm no expert but it's hard to imagine a better resume-builder than that, RPI be damned.

The only two flies in the ointment are the historical absence of 4 SEC national seeds, and the possibility of RPI erosion from playing three weak opponents late. It needs to be 13 or above to avoid giving the committee an excuse to limit the SEC to three national seeds.


Working against that and in our favor is the apparent lack of interest of any of the Western teams to assert themselves.

Also, we have a pretty good chance of edging out A&M for the SECW if they drop another game to Vandy and we sweep MO.
They have seven more Top 12 games... hard to see them winning enough of them to stay ahead of us.

MSU's first National Seed ever should be a slam dunk with any of the following

A) Two more series wins after sweeping MO
B) Winning the SECW
C) Nine SEC series wins and RPI of 12 or better
D) The committee remembers the goal is selecting the best teams rather than spreading the weallth

Right now we are tied for 4th with Vandy and UNM being a half game behind. Of course, our series wins against Vandy and UNM should come into play to help us if we are tied with either of them at the end.

Failing to finish top 4 won't be what holds us back...because if we fail to finish top 4 with our remaining schedule, they'll keep us out because of losing enough of those games and our RPI dropping anyway. If we do what we should do with these final teams, we'll easily be top 4 and more like 2nd.

"The Bulldogs lead the nation with 15 wins against RPI top 50". This is huge. The only reason our RPI is not under 10 is the loss to E. Ky. Don't you think the selection comm knows that. The rebs won't be a national seed. Remaining sched will take care of them. They, along with Southern may host. 3 schools from one state could be a sticking point but not for us. The rebs will drop out, as well as we beat them 3/4.

If they decide to throw a bone to a Texas Tech or a UCSB just to keep all 8 of the national seeds from being from the same two conferences, then some deserving team is going to get left out. But if not, we win today and take the last two series and we should be sitting pretty.

This goes back to what I posted 2 weeks ago. We need to get to 20
SEC wins and give them no choice. With our top 50 wins plus 20 SEC wins- our resume would be just too damn good.

**** all this poor ol' Em Ess Yoo hand wringing shit. Win and we're at home until Omaha. Plain and simple. We're a damn consensus Top 3-5 team. That means we're a national seed barring a meltdown. Don't overthink it.

I think the SEC is going to get four National Seeds. The reason being the West is really weak this year. Utah might win the PAC 12 with a losing overall record. Oregon is looking like one of the better teams out West- and we all know how up and down they have been plus we all know we swept them at home. There also aren't a ton of West mid majors like there usually are. The North will get at least one regional host and then I'm sure some mid major like Coastal Carolina will host.

The other thing to remember is that the conferences are bigger than they used to be.
