    Weekend Cooking & Drinking Thread

I'll be heading out to Leeville later today so I should have some solid pics from the weekend.

Took the afternoon off to do my taxes. Conveniently I finished just as the Masters started on tv. My reward is the W Girl is bringing home Southern Soul BBQ since I "worked so hard today"

Picking up some shrimp and crawfish tomorrow for a boil.

Enjoying the weather with a Lagunitas Undercover investigation (thanks to Beast's video inspiration), while getting wade fishing gear ready for the morning.

The store owner told me I bought the first 6 pack of Bell's on the MS Coast. He drove to the distributor today to pick up his order. Said others are being delivered next week.

    Unibroue

I'm in Detroit for the next 8 days for a conference. Sucks.

I did pick up a sampler of Unibroue at the corner market. I've heard great things about it....this is La Fin Du Monde, a Triple. Ok...not really my thing, but ok.

Have "Tiger Den" ticktes for Sunday night's Yankees vs Tigers game at Comercia Park. It'll be snowing and cold, so we opted for the club tickets. Not too bad...at least we can drink.

This is newborn week for us....after spending six weeks in the NICU, we are finally on 24 hour duty without nurse support. Needless to say, tired does not begin to describe where we are.

I did get a chance to fire up the grill today, though, and did some thick cut chops and lollipop chicken legs:

Also decided to try some AL brews I have not had before - Trim Tab Brown Rye, and Cahaba Blonde Ale.

The Trim Tab is a legit good beer, not sold on the Cahaba yet.

I will also include a good BBQ shot from Missoula this past weekend. In the pic are burnt ends, tri tip steak, beans, sweet/spicy pickles and home made bread. Let me tell you, this was as good of BBQ as you can get anywhere. The pickles were great, more spicy than sweet, and the beans were probably the best I have had.

Been waiting since yesterday morning on the call to head out for work. Sucks because I can't make any plans really. Drove up to Jackson this morning, fully expecting to get called to fly out at midnight. Im giving them until 5 tonight and I'm headed to the grocery store to buy something to grill tomorrow.

Did something a little different with my boil tonight. Used a more traditional GA/SC low country seasoning. It lets more flavor of the shrimp/crawfish/sausage come through. My son doesn't like the spicy, so he loved it. The rest of us missed the kick. May do a half low country half creole next time. Nice cap to an afternoon of the Masters and a quick 8-0 lead against UF.

Elk sloppy joes tonight with Mississippi quick stop style Jojos. After the better part of a six pack, I can say the Cahaba blonde is good beer, and I have enjoyed it this afternoon.

I have been craving a good crawfish boil for weeks - jealous of that cook big time!

Caught a few trout wading this morning, with a 46* air temp. After cleaning up, I took my 2 yr old to the Gulf Coast Yacht and Boat show and found out that he has great taste in boats. Grilled a couple filets with some squash & zucchini and baked potatoes - bell's two hearted, lagunitas and cab sav to drink. Solid day.

Had a blast in Leeville today. If I can get these pics to load on phitobucket I'll post. 24 trout, 2 bull reds, 1 black drum, and 1 slot red. Currently sipping a small batch 4 roses and puffing an Alec Bradley.

Smoked Chicken, grilled asparagus, and baked potatoes. We had a cheap but favorite wine of ours with smoked chicken, Yellowtail Chard. Pre and post meal was from among: Jack the Sipper, Bigfoot, Yalabousha Copperhead, Monkeynaught, Blanton's Bourbon, and Graham's 20 Year Tawney Port.

Today had 20+ mph winds and we had to hit the road so we were on the water about 4 hours. Scratched out a few. Same as yesterday on undersized trout.. Probably caught close to 100 tye last 2 days with only 30 measuring. One thing I forgot about yesterday was the plug went out on the trolling motor. Changed the make plug but apparently it's the socket and didn't have that part. We fished for 2 days drifting and anchoring. No trolling.
