    Tripletail

I have chased the elusive triple tail a little bit with zero luck. Locally, they tend to be just off the beaches and around bouys and channel markers.

It's Spring Break, and we aren't travelling so OldBrunswickDawg took BrunswickDawg Jr. out on his boat today while I am stuck in the office. What does BD Jr. get? A Tripletail! Dang kid.

That's awesome. They show up here every year in late spring, through the summer. They are one of my favorites to hunt down and catch. It can be frustrating when you can see one, but can't get em to eat. What did he catch it on? Live shrimp is all that I have ever had success with for 3tails.

That's freaking awesome. I've hunted and hunted them with no luck. Even spotted them and couldn't get a bite. As speck said, they pretty much only bite shrimp but even I couldn't get them to bite them

The crazy thing is this triple tail was totally in the wrong place. Kid says he was fishing the bottom with dead shrimp about 3 miles inland. I have only seen them off the beaches and occasionally around bridge piers on the Intercoastal as you cross into the islands. BD Jr. Is bragging like a real sport fisherman too - like he planned it...

Ha that's great. I personally have never caught one but the one that was landed on the boat and I cooked was hanging out on a pvc pole marking and oyster lease in the Biloxi marsh. I've heard crab pots are their number 1 hangout. Absolutely delicious fish
