? for coaches - What are we doing this last week to prep for GT?

Ok, so we've had the extra time to prep for Johnson's Flexbone. Now we're gong into the last week before the game. How do you figure the last week goes?

Have we completely installed our offensive and defensive game plans? If so, is the last week just about getting reps to further improve play recognition and/or instinct on defense?

What about offense? GT has struggled with offenses like ours. Do we stick with that completely, knowing it's an apparent "strength vs weakness" in our favor, or do we introduce a new wrinkle or two to perhaps take advantage of their likely focus in their defensive prep for us?

Don't forget the Midline Option where the QB follows the dive back up the middle. Hopefully, we'll have stuffed the dive back forcing the QB to move outside.

I'm actually glad we they make us be down there in advance just so we don't get tricky and show up 30 minutes before games. I still don't get why we made the travel arrangements we did for Bama and Ole Miss.

The key to stopping an offense like GT's is the 3 key system. Key #1- interior DL to NOT be lazy, get ready for high lows & cuts and stay at home at all cost. Over pursuit Vs the triple will cause LBs & S's to be out of position and the propensity to make a 3yd gain a 93yd TD. Clog the holes, work the punch and be patient like you are fishing the Tombigbee. Key #2- DEs must play their assignments ONLY! If your assignment is the pitch man STAY on the pitchman! If your assignment is the read, STAY on the read! Take two HARD steps and read on EVERY SINGLE PLAY! Inside shoulder leverage is key on the punch! Use it to get good angles on ball carriers. BE FIRST with contact palms out, and initiate contact FIRST! Don't let him hit you first, YOU be first like a foot race. Key#3- linebackers, it's simple.....gap assignment! Let the S's worry about coverage & you worry about 7-8 to the ball at ALL cost! If we get beat deep, it WON'T be because of the running game. Hit the holes with ferocity! Do NOT tip, HIT THE HOLE! If a S makes a tackle it's because you blew an assignment! Break down and don't worry about highlight reel tackles! The ONLY reason we won't to be on Sportscenter is because we smashed their running game to bits. If you are on the top 10, it's because you were worried more about yourself and highlights than playing as a unit! Grab ahold and wait for your 10 brothers to come and finish him off. PLAY TOGETHER! PLAY SMART! PLAY AS A FAMILY!

And trying out Nick James as KR/PR. Spoiler Alert...it works out about as good as Smokey Graham:
