Here is why we can't make up any ground in the RPI

Here are some of the recent records of this year's milti-game opponents:

    Holy Cross: 3-14
    Mount St. Mary's: 2-7
    Arizona: 2-10
    Mizzouri: 2-9
    Michigan State: 2-7

We'd be in really bad shape if mother nature hadn't intervened opening weekend.

But, but, that sweep of Mizzou was a real achievement. Don't you know Mizzou is actually a pretty good team? Don't you know how rare it is to sweep any SEC team? What's that? You say they've been swept in every SEC series since ours to make it 4-in-a-row and 5 on-the-year? They've been swept in over half their SEC series??

We need to take 2 of 3 minimum from Bama to justify much confidence in a regional run, IMO.

Does sweeping Missouri on the road hurt us because they keep losing? It's not like we can control that series. I hate the RPI.

Our non conference is sandbagging us right now. Even the teams we scheduled that we thought would be good ended up being really shitty (South Alabama, Arizona, Michigan State). Then of course it doesn't help that we lost our share of games that we should have won.

I'd like to see us schedule smarter in the future and play more quality road games in non conference. Then again, we tried doing that this year with Arizona, but we had no clue they'd end up being so bad. We've had our share of bad luck with scheduling this year, but then again, we brought it on ourself by scheduling so many home games against terrible competition (then losing a few of those games made it that much worse).

To be honest our hosting chances from the time we split with Holy Cross at home have been on life support. We just didn't know it at the time. The Arizona loss was not good but it was one game and on the road. JSU was bad as well but with HC I don't believe they have beaten ANYONE else in the RPI top 100 and maybe only have 1 or 2 wins against the RPI top 200. Once we lost TWO games to that bunch at home there was really no room to lose ANY other marginal games OOC yet we also managed to add in OOC losses to Memphis, Jacksonville St., Arizona and Western Carolina none of which are all that good.

Its simple win 2 of 3 or better and we should be in good position based on finish in the sec. wining a game or two in the tournament would make it easier also.

Yes Mizzo sucks and we havent been playing enjoyable to watch baseball. But we are winning and are tied for 3rd in the conference. Have to remember that.

True, but we are also 1 game away from being 7th in the conference. That's how crazy it is in the SEC right now.

Need to win Friday. Lose that one, we could drop 2-4 spots overnight, players start pressing, and the weekend could spiral out of control. Going to be an interesting weekend of baseball, nonetheless.

And that may be the toughest one to win this weekend given we will likely fact Turnbull in that one.
