    I saw a rat snake about the same size passing by my neighborhood entrance about 5 years ago. I stopped the car, got out and took a pic with my phone. It raised its head up and faced me. It was over 7 feet. This one looks at least 8.

    Rat snakes are good to have around, I have one hanging out in my crawl space right now. I let him live down there, as long as he doesn't venture into my house. Keeps the chipmunks/mice/etc. under control.
