I'm not calling you out I'm just curious. What do you think of Ross after tonight? Going out and out dueling one of the best pitchers in the nation. Are you on the bandwagon now?

No. He's lucky. However, he is modifying it to he wants him on the mound after "lingo" whoever the hell that is.

Some players simply don't translate well analytically. Ross is probably one of those players. That doesn't mean Ross is bad. Doesn't mean sabermetrics is wrong or bad either.

Like I said last year- Ross allows a lot of contact and he doesn't K a lot of people. That's not going to sit well with sabermetrics. But like I also said, it doesn't tell the quality of the contact that Ross is giving up. That's why I don't like saying a stat means you are "lucky" or "unlucky".

I think with stats- whether it's traditional or whether it's a sabermetric stat like FIP- you always have to ask yourself- "what does this stat mean and what is it telling me"? And when you are evaluating a player you really should look at ALL the stats to get a good picture rather than rely on one stat.

The traditionalists can be too rigid when it comes to sabermetrics- but some of the sabermetrics people can certainly be on the opposite end of the spectrum, which is just as bad IMO.

This thread is stupid. I said I didn't like him coming in with runners on because he's not a strikeout guy. The actual numbers showed that he allowed a higher percentage of inherited runners to score last year that most other relievers. I never said I didn't like him as a pitcher. BABIP when at the extremes shows a good deal of luck. Ross had an extremely low BABIP when I brought it up. He ended with a higher BABIP after regressing. Again, not wrong. But if we want to get into pissing contests here

Does Homedog still want Detz benched? For those that don't know.

Does Homedog understand that the bunt percentages of scoring are pretty much the same where actual bunt success is only about 50% in the MLB and with the shitty bunters at this level going to be lower. Most of our bunt attempts fail.

Remember when Homedog said Brandon Woodruff was the key to our season and THE ONLY legit Fri night starter.

Your comprehension sucks- I never said I wanted detz benched. What I said was, since you can't read, he is hitting a ton of lazy fly balls. Which at the time was true. About woodruff, yes I said he was the key to us being great. Still believe that. And before u go ape shit like we have fri night covered. Remember we are just 1-1 on Fridays. So don't get the cart before the horse. As for bunting you sure can turn a statement around. And you can do what u want, u hate bunting etc yada yada yada. As for the engie argument, I'm not going back and looking at the thread over again but I do know I said at that time the stadium wasn't going to be flattened. That came straight from the AD's mouth. I will agree that those odds have upped for sure. However, I didn't know they had issued a statement saying that was taking place. If these are the best I can do Will I feel sorry for you. I'm not wasting the time to pull up any errors you have made because they are numerous. Moreover, the statements u made don't match the thread statements I made. I know, u have never played, never coached, don't know a single person on the staff or on campus but u can sit behind your computer throwing out stats w the best of em. Congrats.

most here would contend that is any thread he participates in. Note from the gallery with knowledge, you are out of your league with Homedawg. I suggest a return to the kiddy litter box.

Ross is a ground ball pitcher, and with MSU's infield defense this year, his BABIP against probably will not rise very much. His ERA will likely outproduce what his FIP will be.

Yall plug in all these dumbass formulas that dont mean jack shit.

Watch the team play a month. Who cares if the Qb on bench is a 5 star. It clouds your judgment.

    Who are the Ballplayers?
