Just Watched Matt Wyatt's Film Study

Our offensive line KILLED US. I knew that watching the game but watching it get broke down really just made it look even worse.

We have to figure out pass blocking. Because a team runs a stunt or a twist the offensive leaves a big ass gaping hole straight to Shapen.

I would put Reese at LT when he gets better and start Jayvin James at RT.

How can a guy play guard at Stanford and can't figure out pass blocking? Holy shit. Play Jacoby Jackson every down at guard.

the o-line and Loadholt should buy Shapen and Fluff dinner this week.

Pass blocking needs to be a MAJOR emphasis this week and the bye week! Embarrassing!

Didn't need to watch any game film to figure that out. And now again we are going to play another team with a good pass rush. Somebody is going to have to stay in to help with pass blocking or we can forget about the long pass plays.

Well, that's kind of the crazy thing. We actually do better on our deep passes than we do our short and intermediate passes. But yeah, I knew it was bad. But the autopsy showed how bad it really was. They literally as a group single handedly cost us the game. Like where Shapen fumbled because BOTH of our tackles whiffed on their guys- we had a guy open on a curl route for an easy first down and Shapen was about to throw the ball to the guy but...

Looks to me like they just have to execute. We have guys looking one direction blocking no one and a guy come in on a stunt or twist and they're looking the opposite direction of the guy coming through. I'm pretty sure they're supposed to have their head on a swivel. I guess Mayberry was looking at one of our cheerleaders or a butterfly? WTF?

And speaking of Shapen. He played a HECK of a game considering he had people in his face literally the entire time.

I do agree with this. I'm not one of the Lets bench him crowd. He threw one really bad pass and that costs us but the long ball that was a sure TD was a great pass. Jus didn't get caught. I remember we had a lets bench Dak and put in Williams crowd.

Yeah. I didn't understand the Shapen hate especially in the game thread. We have fans that don't know much about football but they are very vocal. Shapen played fine. Not perfect but his O line killed him.

You can't squeeze blood from a turnip, buddy. Most SEC teams are going to out-talent us on the lines. We could probably do better with who we have, so I'm not arguing with you, but there are limitations. I'm still amazed that we played as closely as we did against the Vols, but it was a home game and I know our guys have a lot of fight in them, so I guess it shouldn't be too surprising.

Also, I was underwhelmed with the Loadholt hire. Maybe he'll be good. But that Colorado team he came from was one player. Hunter. And he's gone now. Their o line wasn't good either.

I haven't seen many saying bench Shapen. Also, I don't think it's a lot we can do to change our problem with our Oline, it's a talent problem. I'm afraid the "blueprint" scouting report is out now.

If you noticed also alot of our good runs were started inside and the DL compressed inside getting clogged up- then the backs broke contain to the outside

31 (edge rusher) was killing our left tackle!

Our fans are used to a Dak that would sense the pressure coming in and then scramble for 20 yards.
Shapen is trying to stay in there and throw a dagger.

I do think the Shapen fumble was an RPO if you see bothwell he has like Mack truck lane to run through. Shapen misread it and was going for the deep ball. Both tackles pushed their guys out of the way to open up the lanes to run. If we ran it would have worked.

On that interception Wyatt showed where we missed a block and just didn't pick up a guy at all and it caused Shapen to alter his motion and throw it inaccurately.

It was a RPO. However, Shapen wasn't trying to throw deep. He was about to hit a curl at the sticks for a first down.

Game is too fast for our left tackle right now.

It's more fundamentals than anything though.

True point. Hindsight hand that thing off. Fluff beats that linebacker and he is getting no less than 10-15 yards.

As bad as the tackles were beat I'm not so sure about that. He wouldn't fumble more than likely though.
