Alcorn State game
First of all, I want to say I LOVE playing the in state SWAC schools and if I were the AD that's pretty much all we would play as far as FCS teams go. I think it's just good for the state of Mississippi. And yeah, I'm OK playing USM every now and then too. Like twice every six years is good enough for me.
Now, that said this is another opportunity for MSU to build perception. And what I want to see MSU do is score at least 60 on Alcorn. This is a page from the Ole Miss playbook of perception. Blow someone out that is a smaller school and put up a ridiculous number of points and then have everyone talk about how explosive your offense is. That's how we need to follow up our win over Arizona State was of course massive for perception in and of itself.
The gaudy offensive numbers help with recruiting and it makes it look like fun to play in if you are an offensive recruit.
So, let's not be "rational" MSU fans and talk about how "yeah, we scored a lot of points but it was Alcorn- we should score 65." And I don't want to see "We really ran it up on Alcorn- was that necessary?" if we are so fortunate enough to be able to play well enough to score a ton. Because the answer is yes, it is necessary for perception and Alcorn is getting a nice check from MSU so they will be fine.
Now- and I'm being really random here I know- I used to LOVE watching the SWAC highlights from Rob Jay on Sports Journal on Channel 3 in Jackson. Especially when Steve McNair was at Alcorn. Absolutely incredible stuff! I wanted him to win the Heisman so bad even though I knew it wasn't going to happen. He was a special talent.

I agree 100%. We have momentum and the media really likes us right now. Let's take advantage of an opportunity.

I want 70 points and agree on all the above

I would love 60 but not at the cost of a cheap 2nd half injury. Let’s run it up 1st half and then let our 2 & 3 QB get some reps. Just don’t neuter their playbook.

THIS. Far too often we put in QB 2 and get ultra conservative instead of pushing for real-game experience. There is no better way to prep then running full speed.
Let Kro spin it in the 3rd (or even half way through the 2nd if we are up more than 21-0) and let Taylor run the 4th.

Yep. Let the backups get full playbook experience. I want to see both QBs run our offense. Heck I want to see them run the offense with all other starters still in the game.

This
Rock and Roll in the 1st half. Then get Chicken Hawk in there for the 3rd and Noxubee Nightmare to play the 4th. Let them play ball and not just hand off. Get some growth

This 100%. all these guys on the roster came to play, not watch. They also need real game reps and deserve them for their hard work and dedication. Hail State!

THIS^
Agree with a ton of these posts. We need perception right now.
And I don't care if we're playing Millsaps, real game experience against real people that you are not familiar with is 1,000 percent more beneficial than ANY practice scenario or spring game.

Yep I want starters out by half and see some Hawk and Taylor 2nd half. Still score 60 with backups. The future is coming

Stop trying to make fetch happen.
The Chrome Hawk is better anyways. And Super Kamario is already a thing.

It's not about Ole Miss.
Throw any school out there in the Top 25, and they don't let off the gas in these games. They run 2s and 3s at full speed, full playbook, and get them real experience.

Case in point, Ohio State last week. They looked very pedestrian against Texas and took it out on Grambling. Nobody was bitching Saturday about the #1 team in the country beating up on a SWAC school.

That doesn't make it right.

We paying them to be there. Eff their feelings. If you don’t want to see an ugly score, don’t schedule the SEC. Way more harmful to us to only score 35 than for them to give up 70.

NO ONE said limit the scoring to 35. Only not hang 70 on them. But nice try with that.

Dont like getting smoked, stop us. Or don't schedule us. It's not our job to stop ourselves...we have a gauntlet to build depth for.

Never going to be an issue if we use our backups.

You're correct. Let's be the douchebag program that hangs 80.
