It's so invigorating to read how after 3 years our basketball coach never wanted to be here and has been looking for a way out. If this is true, then everyone should understand why we are losers and always will be. Really a sad commentary on Starkville, MSU and the fan base.

Starkville is not an exciting town. That should come to the shock of legitimately no one. It is harder to recruit to boring towns. Again, should come as a shock to no one. There is a reason our job is considered one of the toughest in all of P4 in any of the major sports. You are not too far from anything big but you are not too close to anything for it to help you.

Dang you guys are already crashing and burning with the what ifs and rumors. Starkville isn't Hell, Coaches make enough money they can take off after the season for a long-rested Vacation and shop at some Target store with their wives**

Money talks and it isn't all about night life for Coaches, it's sad to me what you post about Starkville. Wonder why 24,000 students survive?

If our coaches names are coming up in searches, it means we made the right hire.

I mean it's a message board so just stirring some conversation. Will be interesting to watch. I think at the end of the day he stays, due to some NIL stuff with Hubbard and some guarantees he's received. Now after next year, we should count every year as a blessing because a bona fide better job will come calling before too long.

Very true. Bad coaches are never on those lists.

Yep. Saban tolerated Tuscaloosa and spent the offseason on his boat in Florida. They can make the location palatable for the right money. But then again we're not an Alabama level program.

Because they're college students. They go to college bars and college hang outs. I doubt the coach making 4 mil a year wants to go hang out at Drifters during his down time. These guys also have to think about their families. What is his wife supposed to do all day? Sit and do nothing. There's no high end shopping in Starkville. There's one wine bar that's pretty nice but that's it. And it may not be all about nightlife for coaches but they do want to be able to enjoy something. I mean we really have a hell of a choice of high end restaurants. You have 44 Prime and Harveys. That's it. Restaurant Tyler is not high end and neither is Taste. Honestly neither is Harvey's but for Starkville you have to consider it.
And btw, I love Starkville. I wouldn't have a condo here if I didn't. But coaches aren't alums. They don't look at everything with maroon colored glasses on. We do. We can't be impartial.
I mean we're shitting on Iowa and they're located in Des Moines. Population 210K. They probably have just a tad more to do than Starkville.

Birmingham is an hour away and it has everything. Tupelo is over an hour away from Starkville and has about 1/10 of the stuff Birmingham does. Saban also had his own private jet on top of Bama's. Our coaches aren't on Saban level. Saban also doesn't spend his off season on his boat in FL. He, like most SEC football coaches, vacation on Lake Burton in GA. However, Nick keeps his boat in Tuscaloosa. His house is on a damn lake.

Birmingham is a hellhole, Steve. No one is claiming that place as an incentive. And Saban has a place on Jupiter Island.

Oh I know. Saban has multiple properties. And Birmingham is a hellhole. You're not wrong. But Mt. Brook, Hoover, Homewood, Vestavia, and Pelham are not. That's where the rich people are. That's where they shop, eat, etc. Mississippi has a couple of those areas, but they're nowhere near each other and there a good ways away from Starkville.

Birmingham's entire footprint isn't a hell hole in the least and is very desirable. SVS beat me to it.
"We will have no problem in handling Kentucky."-Turfdawg67. MSU suffered a 27-17 defeat in 2022 with 225 yards in total offense.

1st) Saban stayed on his boat at Lake Tuscaloosa-not Florida. Or he was at Lake Lanier
2nd) Name one MSA in Mississippi that rivals Birmingham. You can?t. Sorry. And I?m from MS.

(1) And at Jupiter Island
(2) That in no way makes Birmingham attractive

I doubt it. Any Iowa job will always concern me. However, I know our commitment to Chris and I do not think Iowa can match it. I also know what Richard and Oscar will do to keep him here, especially Oscar.

The University of Iowa is in Iowa City. It's definitely bigger than Starkville but it's still pretty much a college town.
About 75K.

I like our chances to hold on vs Iowa. He stays unless he just wants to go back home. I think he wants a bigger job like Indiana or another blue blood

If he wants to leave he'll leave. Hopefully we can line up a good replacement if he does.
Since morality is out the window (lol), I'd hope we could make an attractive offer to Will Wade.
