    Fran McCaffery

Fran McCaffery just let go at Iowa. We're about to see what our commitment to Jans is.

Yea. NC State. We can also pay more than Iowa can. I thought we might keep him for another year, but this one is going to be worth watching. I'd say 65/35 he stays as of now.

Then be prepared to lose our entire team outside of MAYBE Hubbard. We would have one player and no recruits. Because they'd all leave with Jans.

Sucks, but whatever. I love Jans, but if he wants to go there's not much we can do

This. And he's been trying to leave since getting here, so it is what it is.

That's not a sucks but whatever situation. That's a you better have a HR hire lined up the second Jans leaves or you'll lose everyone type situation. You can't afford a Rick Ray, Rick Stansbury, or Ben Howland type hire with how good the SEC is in basketball. You need to be making overtures to Will Wade right now if you think there's even an inkling that Jans might take that Iowa job.

I don't like that they have the new stadium. I think we can match em in NIL. Unfortunately, most people prefer Oxford over Starkville though

That's 50/50. He definitely didn't want to be here at first and I don't blame him. Starkville is a boring ass town. He can't really escape people. At NMSU, no one bothers him. Here he can't go to the damn grocery store without some dumbass who coaches Upward telling him how he needs to be using our post players more. That's a true story by the way from 2022.

We can't match them in NIL when they decide they care. We have LEGIT 2 donors that handle the lionshare of basketball NIL. Oscar and Richard. The other usual suspects help out. Bart Hyche has actually really been helpful getting the middle level donors involved. But when it comes down to it, it's Oscar Miskelly and Richard Adkerson.

The good news for us in this is that it seems like Darian Devries is who they want to hire. A lot of people seem to feel he should've gotten the job when McCaffery got it but Fran had HC experience and at the time, Devries did not.

Let's hope so. But with who they will hire if he leaves......I wouldn't count on it.
