Staff Changes
Looks like Cody Kennedy will be moving on. We will bringing Phil Loadholt from Colorado. Also bringing in Vincent Dancy to coach DEs and OLBs. TBD If this means Turner returns. My personal guess is that he will be in more of an analyst role this year and Dancy will take over the entire DL OFFICIALLY next year. This also moves Coleman to just ILBs

They moved Turner inside to coach Defensive Tackles only

That makes sense why OL portal recruiting has been sh!t.

No one treats football coaches that have had an ounce of success in the past better than Mississippi State.

That was the announcement. I would not be the least bit surprised if Turner did not have a headset game 1.

I think you might see schools eventually get to where you have coordinators who just call plays and then have 10 recruiters who recruit off campus and coach position groups.
I'd personally go:
OC- off the field
QB
RB
WR
TE
OL
DC- off the field
DL
OLB/EDGE
ILB
CB
S/Nickle
ST- off the field
K/P- off the field

Sounds to me like they're Ok with his coaching but not happy with his recruiting. Which is in line with the talk amongst fans.

I'm the biggest Lebby supporter here, but if they are ok with his coaching then that's a serious red flag

I would be willing to give him another year on the coaching. He can coach when he has talent. He is a crappy recruiter though, and has been for like 10-12 years. Saying that, I feel like this is a way to ease him out instead of straight up firing him. I mean you only get 15 headsets for coaches on gameday. I seriously doubt he has a headset next year. I feel like he will quietly be reassigned to an analyst position and sit in booth with our headset guys on gamedays.

I thought our DT play improved tremendously through the year. Kpaka and Mclendon were much better at Thanksgiving than Labor Day.
KBJ (4 games) and Dinkins (1 game) hardly played so who knows.
Our DT struggles are way more talent than coaching

In theory his group should be ahead of the others. He has been back since Leach passed away and he had a one year head start on everyone except for Bumphis on our staff.

I like bringing in both. I think there is a chance they both bring guys with them.

Sorry, but assistant coaches, especially those that are not coordinators, that can't or won't recruit are basically useless. Especially this day and age. Development of player groups have become less important than ever because nobody much hangs around to be developed. There is no reason for Turner to still have a job if he can't get players.

I note Loadholt also has Oklahoma ties, having graduated there. Looks as if we're becoming an Oklahoma farm club. Maybe when Venables is probably fired next year, we can hire him for our defense.

Carde Smith seems to be the most obvious/likely.

I'm curious to see if Deion actually stays there after his sons go pro. There has been some talk that he's trying to get his foot in the door of an NFL job.
