Is our defensive coordinator going to be
Willie McCorvey
Peter Serman
Is he brain dead?
Or ia he gonna use his brain from here on out?
-
Hopefully we learned some things we can apply to future games.

If he can’t learn to adjust sooner than halfway through the third quarter, he ain’t the man.

He is working with VERY LITTLE TALENT in the front 3 and not much better in the back 8. However, he is going to have to get out of the 3-3-5. I mean his halftime adjustments were ok, but we completely went away from them when we needed a stop on their last drive in the 4th.

Sat loss wasn't about talent. We have some talent, not enough to win 8 games but enough to win 6. I watched Javion Williams abuse his man all night, where ever he lined up. We missed Dinkins and Anderson for sure. With a 3 man front, you need Cox, Jones and Simmons on that D.

I predict he's unemployed next year, & won't be the only one. I know Lebby doesn't want to bust up continuity but this ain't going to work.

Saw my 1st on campus game in 1963 (10-10 tie with OM?) at 8 years old and though I have never been a coach, I could tell the 3-3-5 couldn't stop the run with a transfer 215 lb RB from that powerhouse Sacramento St. Color me very concerned along with DL coach at the other end of the coaching spectrum. Unless I read incorrectly, their QB had 347 yards passing with 4 TD's in his career & we didn't put 8 in the box & make him beat us.

Believe in Lebby on correcting our O troubles of the last few years with time, but getting an Arnett type feeling of some of his not ready for the position, buddy(?) hires as assistants. We needed an experienced DC even if from G5 to help another rookie HC. Hard enough to recruit to D when you have a DC no one has heard of (didn't exactly bring any bama talent tired of sitting on their bench with him), along with an over the hill DL coach. JMO.

I bet Lebby hires an experienced G5 DC sometime in December.

Well, Hutzler wasn't who he wanted for DC. He kept Turner who was our guy. Kennedy knows the scheme and is proven. I don't see that at all.

We've run some shape form or fashion of the 3-3-5 for the last 15 years. It's not the 3-3-5. It's you can't put 5 guys in the damn box and expect to stop the run. He finally put a sixth guy in the box midway through the third. Thus the difference.
Eta I agree w the premise of not talented though!

I FIRST SAW US BEAT HOWARD IN 63

Maybe a new DC would help but....Our DL can't get off blocks. 23 is the best DL and should play more.
LBs are slow to fill the run holes. I dnk if that is failure to recognize the play or an aggression issue. LBs lost outside contain a few times. On and on.
Our best defense is for "show time" offense to actually show up in the next few weeks.

Not sure there is much hope for Hutzler. I know we are thin on DL but any amount of pre-game scouting would have told you that ASU was heavily committed to running the ball so coming out in the 3-3-5 with only 4 or 5 in the box was idiotic to begin with. I can't even put into words how moronic it was to stay in the that defense for over 2 quarters before chaning anything when they were bludgeoning us with the run game.

I mean how many times do you have to watch your defense get totally gashed before making a change? I bet their offensive coordinator thought this is the easiest game I’ve ever called!!

It's going to be a long year. Glad we don't play Texas State.

Skattawhoo has 25 yards vs Texas state. We are BAD

You don't need two high safeties for a team that doesn't throw the ball. I still can't believe it took us 40 minutes to figure that one out. And then we still went back to it with the game on the line.

On 10 carries. He?s averaging 2.5 yards per carry against power house Texas State

With 5 head coaches and over 40 assistants in just over 7 years .... firing coaches is always the answer...
