What I see
Our offense is pretty solid. Yes, we could be better at running the ball but we can put points up on the scoreboard and that's going to give us a chance. Also, we have the ability to score quickly and we can strike from anywhere on the field. In the coming years if we can get a little bit better at running back to go with what we have at WR this offense is going to be really good in 2025. I feel pretty confident we'll find a QB to replace Shapen in the portal. So far, Balke has done a pretty good job. The TD pass to Booth on the fake QB draw was pretty sick!
The defense has to get better and that's going to be the key this offseason. I'm not sure if we need a new DC or not but the game plan tonight wasn't very encouraging. At the same time, I feel like our issues were as much about talent moreso than anything. Our tackling was really bad in the first half. Getting Deonte, Dinkins, and Fowler back should help some. How quickly we turn around is going to be determined a lot by how quickly we can fix the defense. If part of that is getting a new DC I feel like we can attract a good one based on our history. The reality is though even though they ran for a million yards on us we only allowed 23 points.
Unfortunately, the key moment in this game was the offensive pass interference on Craver which was BS and then the fumble by Shapen which they recovered for a TD. I'm not sure if we score on the drive or not that Craver made his catch but we would have closed the gap and at least gotten 3 points out of it likely. We have to get good enough to where a moment like that is something we can overcome.
That said, Ferrie needs to stop shanking short kicks. Not sure what is up with that. But it has happened two weeks in a row. Other than that- special teams has been good. Not too many mistakes on that side of the ball early in the season.
This was a tough loss because we needed to win to get to 6 wins and now we're going to have to probably upset at least someone along the way to have a path to six.
Overall, I am pleased with what I see out of our team and Lebby so far. I'm starting to see signs that we are starting to turn it around and no one expected that to be this year including me. At the same time I don't think we're really that far away either.

Until we get a OL that can block, a run game, a DL and better tacklers we are worlds away.

And instructions on correct tackling form and how to tackle. My god we didn’t tackle at all last night. NIL for that performance on defense ought be refund.

What I see is 3-9….maybe.

I think 4-8 right now is my prediction. Arkansas is a loss because they will run all over us based off what I saw tonight. They are a lot better.
I also think our team has the ability to improve. They will get better and better.

We're not going to get much better because we just don't have the talent.

Todd, FWIW, the x-pt miss last night (actually this morning) was on Ferrie.
The FG last weekend wasn?t as the snap was on the ground and the field was wet.
?IF? our defense figures it out we?ll be better as you mentioned.
Our guys never quit and we almost pulled it out of the fire. Would?ve been so glorious if for no other reason than it appeared 75% of ASU?s fans had left with 7-8 minutes left!
I was 100% stunned the zebras didn?t review the sack of Shapen right before end of 1st half. His knee looked down before he fumbled. That ended up being a HUGE play in the game of course.
Could Lebby not have requested a review? We had a timeout I believe so why not call it and make the zebras review it?? That was frustrating.
Go Dawgs.

What I saw is a defense that gave up 23 points. Yes we need to invest heavily in dl. But at the end of the day they gave up 23 points and worked with a short field most of the night.
The offense not doing jack shit the first half is what killed is. That allowed them to keep running the ball because they didn?t have to worry with trying to keep up.

Went to bed at half, I was pretty disappointed with not being very aggressive and soft on defense. Our offense wasn't clicking and not having a running game was awful. In saying this, I am shocked at the final score, and we must have made adjustments and played much better and harder. But giving up 346 yards on the ground isn't good especially when we get to Sec play. It's gonna be another long Msu season' not sure we will win a Sec game but I am hopefully for improvement moving forward. This isn't Lebby's fault for this team so far, he walked into a cluster f*ck left to him.
When does basketball season start* LOL

We will probably get better as the year goes. But honestly, and dont let me rain on anyone?s parade. But this sport is dead. There is more half ass effort plays than I have ever seen. It is some middle school looking effort at times from these kids.
It?s what happens when you get everything you want with no responsibility or accountability. Coaches cant even coach it out of them. Youd be better off bringing in your top 15 NIL donors and letting them coach bc they are the only thing that the kids would listen to at this point

Right now it's going to be hard to win a SEC game. I don't see a win on the schedule. Have to beat Toledo next week, or 2-10 is staring us right in the face.
-
doesn?t matter how good the offense plays. every sec team can score 40+ on us ?.50+ if they don?t have mercy

Arm was also going forward. Same play last week against us was an incomplete pass except we actually knocked the ball out.

Gundy at Oklahoma St just had to tell a player to quit asking for more money the week before game 1. College football needs real contracts or the sport is dead.

We had some fight and that’s a positive. We did want to win and the leaders didn’t allow the team to give up. The team that plays OM in game 12 should look better than this team now. It likely won’t be close to enough, but it should hopefully keep us from getting a speedboat run on us. Afraid Georgia and Texas are going ti be uglier than we thought coming into this year.

That was old school 23 pts... meaning ball control and chewing up clock. Others this season won't be as generous.

You aren?t wrong but you can do that when your opponent isn?t scoring.

Our DL is trash, the defense tackles like a junior high team and Shapen needs to protect the ball.
We might have this big turnaround mid season and win one or two we shouldn't but I doubt it.
I'm usually a sunshine pumper but I ain't got no sunshine today.

As bad as the defense was, at the end of the night, they only gave up 23 points. Shapen's fumble provided the other 7. The offense only having 3 points at the half just doesn't cut it. I'm glad we made the comeback but sometimes when teams get up 30-3 they naturally let up a bit. I'm not convinced we even score what we did without them having the big lead. We sort of knew our defense was going to be bad this year so that's not surprising but the offense not being able to run the ball very well and not be able to put up more points against a Big 12 team is disappointing. I will add though that Hutzler was garbage in this game. You are playing 3 down linemen and getting smashed and it takes until well into the 3rd Q before ANY adjustment is made? That's pathetic. I was VERY disappointed with Lebby's hiring of that guy as DC and even more disappointed today.
