What a damn MLB draft surprise- Jordan goes undrafted tonight
Jordan didnt go in the Top 2 rounds- so what this means?
Jordan told MLB his number was around 4MM or so. Tonight MLB said- "No way"
So now Jordan has an interesting decision- Do you take around 900K in Round 3 or even a little less? Or do you bet on your talent- come back- and go for a Top 20 draft pick in 2025 to make around 4-5MM????
Dude needs to return to school. We may have just won tonight in a big way

It will be very interesting to see what he does. Makes you wonder what he is telling teams at this point about the money it would take for him to sign. It would be huge to have him back in CF and the 3 hole next year.

If somehow we get him back..

With his upside and the fact that he still has leverage coming back and gambling on himself isn't a bad idea.

100%
He still has leverage. He needs to come back

Get thru the 3rd and I'll feel a lot better. Would be a major win for next year's team.

As frustrating as it got sometimes, he still hit .354 with 20 bombs and 72 RBI. You cannot overstate what a boost it would be.

MSU would not likely get that from Nori as a Freshman. It's possible he would have been a 420 Hitter with 28 Homeruns and 80 RBI, but that is so rare. Even Dylan Crews just hit 360/18/63. That was an advanced Freshman.
DJ just needs to call Christian Moore and get some UTK magic beans and bats, he is getting paid 7M next season

If he's drafted 3rd round, why would/should he come back?

As a high level competitor, why take 800k to ride buses to little league parks vs 200k to come back to a premier SEC school and bet on yourself to work up to 2.5M next year?

Absolutely, no way can we get what DJ gives us out of the portal. He would boost our offensive expectations tremendously if we were to get him back.

That 800K-1MM will be there for him again next summer. Bet on yourself to climb into the 1st round to make 3-4-5MM next July.

From a competitor standpoint he could work on those things with a trainer and get better. The dude balled and the stats show it. I could be wrong but his small progress isn't going to validate coming back. The only thing that would change are hits. Everything else has a huge chance of actually dropping. It's too big of a risk to come back imo.

He's not going to improve much from this year's performance. Take the money and start your career. Bet on yourself and get it back.

The thing is that MLB has finally seemed to learn the value of letting colleges develop talent. It think Jordan is a very good player - but he is one of 3-4 dozen with similar stats and talent metrics spread across college baseball and high-end high school kids. Jordan has a leverage year, and teams aren't as willing to pay high $ for a kid who still needs to show he can hit the curve and be patient at the plate. They have 30 16 year olds in the DR who can do the same for less.
"After dealing with Ole Miss for over a year," he said, "I've learned to expect their leadership to do and say things that the leadership at other Division I schools would never consider doing and to justify their actions by reminding themselves that "We're Ole Miss.""

If you lose Nori, but gain DJ then it's a wash. I still think he goes early today, but we'll see.

Dakota can make himself some money by returning to State to work on his chase/swing and miss issues and prove that he can play CF as well. He does that, and he is a lock for top 20 in 2025 and could go top 10. Dakota also needs to hit more fly balls and fewer balls on the ground. His ground ball percentage was pushing 50% this with a 35% fly ball percentage. 34% of the fly balls he hits go for home runs. He could hit 30 plus HRs if he pushes that fly ball percentage closer to 40%.

I'm guessing his NIL is probably not much different than what he would get in the 4th round.

Hmmm, I'd be surprised but happy if he returns. Not sure he will improve coming back but hope he does.
