Negotiations now with Lemon
We are actually in a real good spot right now as the season has ended and contract negotiations are beginning.
Lemon has been mentioned as a candidate for the SC job. With 50% of State fans wanting him gone- he cant leverage us with that. We still have hand
With the season we just had- he has to be extended on some level. Here is where the fight begins.
Selmon will earn his paycheck on this one.

Save money and use for football and basketball. Just my two cents. Big thread about it on the other board.

No extension. He can prove his worth by doing a successful 100% rebuild and get State to a Super in 2025. Or he can go ahead and head back home to South Carolina.

We need to extend him for the health of the program. That's one of the areas Ole Miss screwed up with Bianco. They didn't extend him after 2021 and it hurt their recruiting because everyone started talking about Bianco leaving.
Now to be clear- extend him but don't give him a crazy buyout.

We have fans that think we should give his paycheck to football and basketball?

It appears so. Despite baseball being the only sport that we have had consistent success in and a definitive culture for.
That?s the very reason so many care about who the coach is and how they perform.

I know fans that don't even think we should have a basketball team. Just let football players play basketball as a rec sport, who cares.
Standup a men's soccer team.

Todd, we have fans that want to give football and basketball paychecks to baseball. But we’re in the minority.

It's not complicated. Extend him but not the buyout. Low buyout. Renegotiate after next year if need be.
Announce publicly an extension to help recruiting and portal.

I'd prefer someone else do the rebuild this time. Now is a good time to start over

Hate to say it but this isn't such a bad idea. With the emergence of the Portal and NIL there needs to be a fulltime "scout" for each sport that can provide the coaching staff a final list of targetees. This would allow the coach to spend more time on his craft.

There?s someone in every baseball thread that feels the need to tell baseball supporters that we should care more about football and basketball.

With 50% of State fans wanting him gone
Is that all fans or just message board fans (which are a very small minority)?

Nil budget is more important than coaches salary now.

I can't totally disagree with this post, I'm kinda on the fence with him, 1) we had a successful season, but 2) maybe SC will go after him and he takes it, want hurt my feelings. I'm good with either.

I say it's baseball fans. Other fans in football or basketball don't care.

I have noticed that comes up often in baseball discussions. WTH are they doing in a baseball discussion then?

It started with bitching about not being able to go sit in a spot in the LFL then it moved to everything wrong with baseball is due to the LFL and now has settled on de-fund baseball. On 6Pack, I asked a question a while back and never got an answer. I asked if they walk up to random tailgates of strangers during football season expecting to get fed.

Selmon has 100% the advantage here because Lemonis isn't that well liked. Most view him has an average coach. You keep him cheap because he hasn't earned a raise since that last contract. He SHOULD lose money in reality but he won't.
Not many people will care if Lemonis walks.

Well until the Bulldog Initiative is brought in under the university umbrella those funds are separate. That's coming with the settlement last week, but how quickly is a mystery.
