Jordan has 2 massive holes in his swing. It used to just be breaking balls away but if you've noticed teams have started throwing fastballs in at or above his hands and he can't handle that pitch, it's a massive hole right there right now and until he makes an adjustment he's screwed at the plate. The only pitch he can hit right now is a mistake out over the plate. The fastball in is eating him alive right now. The kid has been so talented growing up he just out talented the pitchers he was hitting against. Now he's facing pitchers that know how to pitch and exploit the holes in his swing and if he doesn't make adjustments he's screwed. At this point it's not a slump, it's adjust or die.

it looks like he's losing his barrel on inside heaters. and as a result his swing isn't smooth and he's swingin up at the ball. so even when he's on time he's missing the pitch. like he's trying to adjust mid swing with multiple parts to his swing.

of course the old tried and true method of slump busting has always been the go to....is there a golden corral somewhere around hoover?

DJ needs to BUNT, BUNT, BUNT, BUNT, BUNT every at bat until he gets a hit. And, the 3rd baseman or pitcher might throw it down into the right field corner! As deep as the 3rd baseman play when he bats, no way they will throw him out

Just my feel, I think they are playing for the draft a bit. Someone like Goat or an MSU affiliated scout should inform them that draft scouting is over. Nobody is watching these games to draft them higher or lower. For the next two weeks, it's about runs and getting on-base. Winning games. They are batting like MLB power guys that don't really care about winning games.

They already have HR's in the Teens. People can see the power potential. From this point in the season, they are only going to face Aces and top talent from every club they face. Especially from SEC, ACC, and PAC12 teams. They are going to look like sad puppies in the batters box if they don't respect the opposition and adjust. You have a shitty game, you will put MSU in the loser's bracket, which they did.

Right now, Larry and Kohler feel way more promising at the plate than the big Guys.

I think they will adjust, yesterday was hopefully the Bobby Dalbec moment in a low stakes game.

You're right, early on pitcher were exploiting his over aggressivness on chasing breaking balls, now they're busting him inside and he cant get the barrel there. Watch his reaction on pitches that are inner third belly button high that he's taking. He flinches like its gonna be way and they're absolutely strikes he should be destroying. And i had this discussion with Cooter in another thread. All these "power" hitters are being taught from a young age to stand on top of the plate and pull everything. Works great in travel ball and hs where you don't see very much mid to upper 90s stuff with command. He has always out talented pitchers growing up and never had to face a whole bunch of guys who know how to pitch and command. This is an extreme learning experience for him.

i made a point in a different thread that i think he could commit to pulling and be better off. he's late to the party on everything that he should be mashing. he's just off. he's pulling off breaking balls and not confident on the heaters. now what i just said wouldn't fly if he just flat can't pick up spin, which could be the case. and you are exactly right about the level of pitching. he's a very talented kid and someone will get their hands on him and figure him out. but if he wants to reach his potential in pro ball he is going to have to adjust mentally and physically. the exact same thing can be said for everybody at this level...except skenes apparantly

They are matching Long the Third at bat for at bat right now. I would think avoiding hanging out with any bad juju is in order!

So whats the deal with Hines? If it was just one or the other we might could get by but now they are both near automatic outs. Post-season seems pretty hopeless with the current state of the offense. Hines in the last 12 games is 3 for 46 with 19 strikeouts. DJ is 0 for his last 18 with 7 strikeouts. Starting to think Gotro is the new Foxhall just with the hitters instead of the pitchers this time. On the other side Parker's guys have now given up only 8 runs in 3 games in the SEC tourney but still find ourselves in the loser's bracket.

There is no pitcher that fears either one of this guys right now. Remember early in the year when they both would get intentionally walked! I can see them walking Mershon or Larry to get to each of them right now.
